lastnline75
has anyone purchased a "Alloy Boltz Stainless Steel Kits" from ebay?
rubberneck
Yes, I bought the polished one. it is pretty good, although i did not like any of the rear suspension pivot bolts and did not use them. They are threaded too far and not shouldered like the stockers. Suspension was an area i didnt feel good about changing the stock fasteners. If you have a highly modified bike you will end up with a shit ton of bolts you wont use from the kit. Now one word of advice. Use loctite or some other thread lubricant on ALL stainless fasteners or you are asking for stripped/gualled/broken mess. I use red on suspension bolts (stock and the few stainless ones i did use) and blue on all the other 10 and 8 mm bolts. On the 6mm and smaller i used purple. this provides lubrication while tightening things and keeps them from gauling plus keeps things tight. However you will still be able to remove them later on with the various strengths used the way i described. Caution, you do not need to tighten things as tight when using the loctite, follow the torque specs that come with the bolts and you will be good to go. Bansh-eman
checkout Fastnerguy's kits. Once Alloyz sold the company a few years back the kits havent been the same. I myslef and many other have the Fastenerguys kits and have had no problems. I have had a few bolts get the threads jackedup and the dude is cool about sending you replacments. He wont even charge you, he will just ship them out.
dajogejr
Fastnerguy is who I used too. When I built my bike two years ago...my buddy and I had 3 bikes total to build. two banshees and a YFZ. He cut me a little break on price. Not a ton, but Alloy Boltz could give a shit less.... MAKE SURE you use thread sealer or any other kind of thread lube for the stainless kits. Stainless bolts are notorious for galling from the smallest burr, nick or imperfection. If you're gonna powder coat parts or a frame...run a quick tap through the holes before putting a stainless bolt through just to be sure. I learned the hard way on this one... A while back...there was a thread on using the stainless bolts on the motor itself (case halves). Some didn't trust them, etc. Just a few weekends ago...I finally tore my motor down to the bare cases (freshening up, porting, etc.), the stainless case bolts held up just fine. LOTS of abuse and time on this drag motor...not a single issue. Just an FYI. Edited December 30, 2008 by dajogejr

278
I just bought one for my clutch and stator covers. Whats the best thing to use for lube, Im guess just like a normal anti-lock bolt lube they use for putting motors together?

I prefer blue of purple loctite as it lubes going in plus keeps things snug until you want them out. Not that banshees vibrate anything loose or anything. klemet banshee
sorry to hop in but does anyont know if they make allen head bolts for carbs and if so were can i find them?
dajogejr
My local aco and ace hardware, as well as Home Depot and Lowes all carry stainless metric allen bolts as you speak about. I replace every phillps head bolt I can when working on these things with allen head stainless...so much easier to work with.
