aust_banshee
Couple of races at the dunes today: LTR450 (pipes, computer, sproket, filter, paddles) VS YZF450 stock YZF450 smoked it in every race. LTR450 (as above) VS Banshee (paddles only) My banshee blue him away every race by about a bike length. Banshee VS 660R Banshee wins. Banshee VS YZF 450 Banshee loses by about a bike length. A standard YZF 450 is fast.. LTR450 was saying that if he didnt have paddles he'd win... dont know if theres any truth in it.
Stellar Performance
Well...not to start anything here.....but either there was a very inexperienced rider on the suzuki 450, or something else was wrong. Or the YFZ450 was not stock at all. Between a modded lt-r450 and a stock yfz450....the yfz does not have a chance. Between you banshee and the lt-r450......unless your banshee has some good porting, pipes, etc and very well tuned......the modded suzuki will usually still win. Believe me when I say I am not bagging on the YFZ450....they are killer bikes and can be made VERY fast. But in stock trim, they will not touch a modded lt-r450. I had the cheapest mods available on my lt-r450 "pull the spark arestor, cherry bomb module, pro design filter kit", and had no problem keeping up and or beating most of my buddies ported, piped, carbed, banshees. And unless any yfz450's I raced were piped, jetted, intake, cdi......they wouldnt have a chance. Like I said.....I'm not trying to start anything here.....and everyone on here know I am a banshee man.....but you cannot mess with a good running, even slighty modded lt-r450. dajogejr
I agree.. Those LTR 450s' are an animal with just a cherry bomb, screen removed and an air filter. The biggest problem out of the box with those is the 18 inch tires. Great for MX. Crap for anything else... YFZs are no joke, and you all know me as a banshee man as well. But those results don't sound right...
BUILDER
I think he messed his post up a bit. I think what he is trying to say is the LTR 450 said he would have won if he would have had paddles on. Sound like to me the banshee was running paddles and the other bikes were not running them. dajogejr
Oh for sure. Ported banshee setup and tuned right...it's no contest. I was under the impression this was a bolt on mild bike.
aust_banshee
banshee had sand gekos and a filter. Ltr had sand trackers and the mods listed above. Close races, some would claim draws but banshee overall seemed faster and the mark and in top end. I raced this same bike with a completely stock banshee running stock tyres and lost by many bike lengths. He had the same mods except he wasn't running paddles he had a good set of Dunlop tyres. Also he has previously raced a modded 04 yfz and a stock one and beaten them both with his dunlop.
wacko2000
I have to chime in here also, I have ridden the LTR 450 and it is my favorite of the 4pokers, Im also a big fan of the yfz, I have slapped a few different bikes with my boys LTR and it has a cherry bomb and exhaust. 660r-700r 450r- (04 yfz which isnt a true 450) and a piped banshee Dont sleep on the suzuki its a bad ass bike, change the rear tires and gearing and the bike is a blast. Im thinking the rider and the LTR didn't know what he was doing but thats just my 02.cents joseph
aust_banshee
The ltr is east to ride in a straight line you can't do too much wrong. Banshee on the other hand takes time to learn when to change gears.

Haulers are the way to go! Just MHO! SP

aust_banshee
We all raced again. A banshee with DMC and vf3 and paddles raped everything in the first 100m even a highly modified honda trx450. Banshee rider was 110kg and a novice. Though it lacked a lot of top end, i even raced him on a stock banshee with geckos and eventually caught it top end. LTR went slightly better with the dunlop tyres, enough to beat the YFZ 450 - but the stock banshee had 2 loses and 1 win against it. 2 random LTRs showed up - one lost to the stock banshee 2 x and the other had paddles and beat the stock banshee. The sand geckos were in my price range. I still want to do sliding and what not and they were a million times better then the stock banshee tyre on sand. The geckos get me up the steepest of dunes. I dont want to be spending 200 a tyre. Edited January 2, 2009 by aust_banshee
