Hot rods crank install

Hey guys, I am rebuilding my motor from the ground up, I installed a new hotrods crank and I was wondering what keeps the bearings from spinning in the case? Would it be just the o-rings on the middle bearings? The new crank doesn't have the little nubs like the original one does.

 

One more newbie question, is there only 1 circlip on the power side to hold the crank in line? It looks as if you can use two, one on top and the one that goes on the bottom since the upper case is machined all the way around. Any suggestions or criticizm would be greatly appreciated!

The center bearing on a hot rods crank does not have any pins on it. The o-ring just gets tight in the case and holds it in place. You should have a clip on one side and a pin on the other side of the crank and nothing in the middle. O and you only use the one half of the clip it does not take 2 halves.

Hmm, I didn't see any pins on the stator side of the crank? Thanks for the fast reply and merry christmas to everyone.

the half clip, stand it vertical so its half in one case half and half in the other case half. same thing in tranny if you ever come across it.

Dam, I thought that I lost one of those clips, glad to know that there is only one.

For added peace of mind, you could use some bearing seat locktite. The Loctite brand makes a product for it but I used the general purpose R01 bearing retainer from Saf-T-Lok and haven't had any problems. You only need 1 drop on each bearing seat and whatever you do, make sure you don't get it inside the actual bearing if you decide to use it.
