I would run a 13-41 and see how you like it, Geko tires are the absolute worst paddle tire i have ever seen, i think a good set of nobbies would work better. I like the straight paddle haulers the best but the sand stars work ok.

True.. My friend did good with his gecko's so i guess its every 1's own on tire pref... I never been to glamis so i couldnt say what tires i like or dislike.. if they work they work if there shitty then I come home and i'll look for new tires... Im just going out to have fun... MDS2106
Geckos are a little better than knobbies but not by much.On my first banshee I went thru the paddle delima started with geckos[horrible] then went to sand sharks [rotten] and finally made the jump to haulers it was like a whole different bike.I have also tried paddle brats and they are also a very good choice.I would even say that snows and pro wedges are better than the first two I spoke of.But any paddle tire is better than no paddle tires. 2001Stroker
Maybe this will help you out a little. If you don't know, lower numbers are higher gears, and higher numbers are lower gears.

dajogejr
Bone stock motor with stock carbs and Shearer pipes. You don't have the motor for those pipes, let alone in sand. The fact you're 165 doesn't hurt...but 6th gear on a banshee is very tall. And with a bone stock motor, regardless of 7 paddles...it's going to be hard to turn 6th gear in sand. I had a strong running stock motor with timing and compression, stock carbs and T5 pipes and it still had a hard time pulling 6th in sand... You can shorten the gearing to tighten things up...but my advice is go bigger on front or smaller on rear, launch in second and stretch 5th gear out further....knowing you're not gonna pull 6th. Or...just get it ported. LOL.

LOL. i dont think thats true, they are small bore pipes. yes porting would help but the thing doesnt even have 10hrs on it. i dont have money to burn, i will do all that stuff when it needs a new topend or blows a cyl. i just think my paddles are a little tall but i need floatation in the sand so down gearing should help. i will know after this weekend.
dajogejr
Small bore or big bore makes no difference in your case. Shearers are and always have been a top end pipe, and they are designed for motors that breathe. I'm sure others will back me up on that. I COMPLETELY 100% understand not tearing apart a motor with 10 hours on it....I also understand not being made of money. However...you asked the question, and the pipes play into your solution. I don't think you have enough motor to pull 6th strongly in sand...the pipes aren't helping, only hurting in my opinion. T5, T6, FMF or other pipes built for a stock motor/stock port would do better for you. Promise...
