I tried searching and wasnt finding what i was looking for so maybe someone can help...my bike and mods are down below. i currently have stock gearing. i ride mostly glamis and occasional dumont. and my problem is when launching at olds 1st gear is too low and 2nd gear is too high. also went to the sand drags to open it up and use all the gears and 6th was useless, it bogged. so what do you guys recommend?

A) dont be a pussy launch 2nd and dont use 6th.

B) go up on the rear

C) go up on the front.

i was totaly kidding about option A. hahaha but seriously i wanna know what you guys think and how many teeth thanks.

im not familiar with sand at all, but if you are bogging 6th gear, your mains are probably rich

if im on loose shit, i will start in 2nd and just sit farther forward to get the tires spinning, then once movin and spinnin plop your ass back down as far back on the seat as possible, im sure the kind of tires and how many paddles you are running makes a big difference as well, but like i said ive never ridden sand

i pretty sure my jetting is spot on. its just that my pipes are for mostly top end. it doesnt bog in any gear just 6th.

Drop down a tooth on your front sprocket. You will be able to start in second easier that way and you will have a little more bottom end. You will loose a little top speed but it will be worth it on the other end.

are you winding 5th gear out pretty long? with those pipes each gear will pull longer. if you short shift you could drop outa the powerband especiallly in 6th. i agree about dropping a tooth in the front. as for the rear you would want to go bigger back there for more bottom end. so if i tooth smaller in the front still isnt quite enough you can go 1 bigger in the rear. 1 tooth in the rear will affect it about half as much as 1 in the front

gear it down!! try running a tooth or maybe 2 less on the front sprocket.. then you can launch in 2nd, and not bogg in 6th.. pus it will wanna rev quicker with a shorter gear..

thanks for all the replies. im at 165lbs so ill try going down 1 tooth in the front, im heading to dumont new years and see how that does. those dunes are steeper than a mo-fo.
