banshee remake?

Recommended Posts

Why doesn't Yamaha do a total remake of the banshee? Certainly there would be a market for them?

I am sure they could make the 2 stroke engine a lot more efficient and put some technology in it. Imagine a brand new high tech 2 stroke 350 banshee with a full race set up (YZF350R). It would damn sure shut the gates on all the 450s...

Some emmisons crap. I think to sell a two stroke in the USA it has to be under a certain CC. Ive read some stuff about new two stroke tech with some sort of special ceramic sleeves? I'm not worried about it. There is enough banshee aftermarket stuff to turn it into a differnt animal.

exactly, emissions bullshit aside, why would they reincarnate a 20+ year old quad and make it better than all their new ones, it just wouldnt make sense, 4 strokes are the future, thats where all their money is goin

maybe yamaha is waiting to put out a green banshee... like hydrogen or a 2stroke hybred.

I wonder what they are going to do with their old banshee plant (if they still have one). Maybe they can sell it to some chinese manufacturer to keep the old engine design

surely if they put some money into the engine they could fix the emissions and make it more powerful.

With the way the emissions laws are going, it would be 100% useless.

Of course they can do that...but why? They have no reason to...

No one wants the dirty, loud, annoying, smoke pouring two stroke motors anymore...except for us.

everything is slowly going 4 stroke, boat motors, mx bikes, quads.lawn and garden.your stihl weed whackers, husqvarna equipment.its all going that direction.and only is it not going that direction they are getting better performance out of the 4 cycle stuff as well as time goes by.there's enough 2 cycle stuff out there for a long long time for those who want to ride a 2 stroke.

well we only have 1 earth so its good to take care of it. but ive seen tons of four strokes that burn more oil than any 2 stroke. i dont understand why they cant come up with a two stroke oil that wont be bad for t he environment. i saw a cobra 80cc two stroke quad they are coming out with in 09 and its over 8k....wtf

if your burning your four stroke oil in your furnace, or pouring it on the ground, your doing less good than a 2 stroke.

in a 5 hour ride, i went through 2-3 tanks of fuel.

at a 32:1 ratio that would figure out to 12 ounces of oil for 3 tanks.

if your like most four stroke riders, you would be changing your oil after this 5 hour ride, now, in a common bike, the wr250f, the oil level is 1.6 liters, which figures out to 54.1024363 US fluid ounces,

BAM! if your four stroke oil is destined for the ground, or for your furnace, you have roughly put 42 more ounces of oil into the earth at each 5 hour interval than their 2 stroke ancestors.

edit: not to mention that the four stroke oil is going to be 10X dirtier than the cleaner burning premix. they even make smokeless premix now.

Evinrude makes a boat motor that not only makes more hp but puts out less emissions than any of its competitors. They have had them for a few years at least. I dont understand why that technology could not be adapted for other powerplants.

Since we are on this subject...... I was thinking a while back with the fuel pries so high.... since oxygen is combustable, why couldnt an engine be made to run off pure O2? And dont give me this crap about it would never work. The chinese made a motor run off gun powder WAAAAY back.

Just a thought

bmw already did this, but

the problem with this, is that they are having problems with what to do with the tank in case of a wreck.

they already make some exotic cars that run of hydrogen, but the amount of hydrogen needed and stored in a tank, would make a catastrophic boom when punctured.

hell, they had a concept car that ran off of air, but not only did they have the same problem, even a huge amount of compressed air wouldnt get you far.
