05.Banshee.SE
Alright...all my mods are in my sig. My question is...where do I go from here? I was thinking: -4 mil -HJR Dune Port -28mm flat sides Does anyone run a similar setup to this, or have any reccomendations? Are these carbs even big enough to feed it? (I'm trying to do motor work only right now, suspension stuff will follow.)
brian
Best to ask kevin if those carbs will work. Maybe they'll be good for temporary setup, but,I think you want to go 33mm and up with that setup. I run 35mm pwks on mine and very happy with them. Never tried anything smaller tho. 05.Banshee.SE
I'm basically looking to get some more power, and some more mphs. From my current set up...larger carbs, porting, and the stroker crank I think will do it. Unless I should be looking for another route? brian
Right direction. Only other way is bigger..........7mm-10mm, cheetah cubs, etc.

I know his motors flow a lot of fuel though! Porting and stroking will get more power from your motor but you'll only get more speed out of it by changing your gearing. Taller gears will get you more speed but you need the power from the motor to pull them. SP

Once I get all this power I'll probably make the gears taller...I don't think the bike would run good the way it is now, with taller gears. EDIT- I don't think I need a cub yet...not sure that would be very woods friendly, lol. When I decide to do dragging I'll shoot up to the cub. brugal
-HJR Dune Port Why would you get a dune port in Florida? Just wondering.
05.Banshee.SE
Why would you get a dune port in Florida? Just wondering. I know that at that point it might lose a lot of its trail potential...but I do a lot of open ended ripping around. Anything mid-top I think would suit my needs. If you have a better suggestion by all means shout it out. I'd rather get what is going to be best for me, and explore all my options. What I don't want is low end. (And I do race the 1/8th mile for fun from time to time... but I don't want to be a complete dragger to where I can't do any woods work.) dirtfreak
porting alone will help drastically, every thing you do will help, case porting, carbs etc. but even with your stock carbs jetted right with porting will make a serious difference. 278
Cubs are built for topend man so what I would do if i were you is get a 4mil. 421 cub since you do some dragging and you ride open areas and want mid to top
05.Banshee.SE
I started off with a 100% stock bike, and am trying to build it into a beast basically. I think once it's built to where I want it, I won't ride it as much, and will probably store it more than ride it, actually. That being said...I want to continue building this specific motor, instead of buying a new one and dropping it in. I want to do all the work I can myself. Does this sound like a good plan? 1. Send the top end out for porting. 2. Rebuild the top end. 3. Throw the new carbs on. 4. Throw the 4 mil crank in. (Should I have it welded?) When should/does the cases have to be ported? 278
It's a catch 22 because all those things pretty much go together. You have to get your cylinders ported for a 4mil. and once there ported especially dune or above they can't be reported for the 4mil. so I guess like you said port them now then later on get a 4mil. and new cylinders

I just need to compile what all I have to do.

An agressive trail port with some CPI"s is a great option.A 4mil and 33pwk will take her to the next level..
