sheerider1026
ok guys, i know it has been discussed, but i have to ask.. i have a 392 cub motor on the bike, i do trail ride it, and drag it.. its a play bike.. i do have a trail shee that is strictly for trail riding.. i want to make the cub bike shift better and have been thinking about doing the 1-5 dunable overide... should i do it??? will it be durable??? i would say 30% trails, 20% open fields, and the rest just draging... someone school me a little better on the dunables... would i be better off interupting the ignition somehow when i shift?(for drag racing)
1996dragshee
If speed is your need then fill the greed, hell yeah put the duneable override in it. X2
sheerider1026
lol.. yea it sounds very appealing, but i don't wanna have to tear it down frequently to replace the forks.. are have the dunables come a long way as far as durability?? If you don't want to tear it apart to repair all the time then the answer is likely a duneable override. I have a 4 mil stock jug bike with a lockout clutch. I have needle bearings on my shift shaft and shift drum and every other dog removed on my gears that would normally have 6 dogs. My tranny shifts like butter even with the bike not in motion. All the way up through the gears and back down. Shifts great while riding without the clutch by just letting off the throttle but will not shift under a real heavy load like an override will. Trying to do so will be more likely to bend forks then anything else. SP

00tbanshee
i'd say go with a dunable overide.you should be fine with not replacing the shifter forks but just remember you don't want to backload it all the time or it does get to be alittle wear on them.get ahold of dajogjr on here he has a pretty good hookup on them and they work well. BellicoseBanshee
If you have a lockout, you will greatly benefit from a duneable override.
sheerider1026
kool.. so the dunable will withstand some moderate backloading and downshifting then?? i always have the habit of holding the clutch when coasting a hill or slowing down also.. maybe i can use an overide without any probs.. who knows.. lol

POORBOY350
i really need to do this when i get the money. so when can you use the clutch? just to put it in 1st or what... i think it would take some getting used to,...using no clutch all the time, up and down. pretty damn cool tho. would be a great mod. i have a lockout clutch and it is rediculously hard to shift. its almost like you have to stop for a second grab the clutch pull shifter up let out and go. that is alot of time when it comes to racing. but if you have the money then do it, definately. You can ride the bike like normal... you NEED the clutch to take off, obviously. Based on the way the gears are cut, I would not advise downshifting without the clutch. If Loco is doing it...fine, I don't feel comfortable doing that...nor do I have the need. The gears are cut in order to engage the next highest gear....under full throttle with no clutch, they're not cut to downshift. I pull the clutch to downshift mine...
