Glamis March 09

BUILDER

Recommended Posts

We have a group of us that are planning on heading to Glamis in March of 09. We will be leaving from Oregon. Thought i would post and see if there was anyone that wanted to join up for the trip. We are a fun group of guys to ride with and it should be a great trip. A few of us have been there most have not so it should be a blast. We will probably ride for 5 days. We are planning on leaving on the 11th. If you are interested hit me up and as the we get more details i will let you know. We may have room if someone wants to just throw there bike in and share fuel costs. I know we have two enclosed trailers going for sure right now and maybe more. I cant wait for it to get here!

So i need a little help from you guys that have been to Glamis before. Were is the best pace to camp when we are there and do i need to call ahead for reservations. We are trying to finalize the last of our plans and camping is the last thing we have left. Also if any other HQ members are going to be in Glamis around the March 11th through 16th time let me know we can hook up for a ride while we are there. We only have one guy in our group that has been to Glamis before so any pointers would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

You can really camp anywhere & makes it alot easier if you're bringing your own hauler. We like to camp by the washes so we're closer to all the vendors. Pull into the Glamis store and buy your weekly pass & visitor sticker for the atv! I think it's about 30 bux for each one. I won't be there in March, trying to make Dumont plans but feel free to shoot on over there after Glamis! :D

Hey guys we are still leaving the night of the 10th or the morning the 11th. We had a couple of guys had to cancel going so if there is anyone from the Oregon or Washington are that wants to go to Glamis we have room for 2 more bike. All you would need to do is share in the cost of fuel for getting there. We are going to ride for 4 days and i am sure it is going to be a ton of fun. If anyone wants to go along make sure and hit me up soon.

Also if anyone has any good pointers since i know several of you guys just got back from there dont be afraid to give any advice.

Buy your permits or passes in Brawley before you get to Glamis,They are cheaper...Dont leave your fuel cans out for the rangers to see if they are not marked for gasoline,no bottles, bring whips or buy them and install before ridding, carry your registration for your bikes on you at all times. No open containers in vehicles"Tim",or fireworks in your area unless your far enough out that only you enjoy them and not the rangers.Make sure all your registrations are current and you have proper stickers displayed well.Good luck and have a blast..

Thanks for the info lowbucks i really appreciate it. We have got to carry the regesterations for our bike? Hell i dont even think i know were mine is. We have whips because we ride the Oregon dunes all the time. How much are the permits and do we need them for the bikes even if we have Oregon permits and do we need one for camping? Thanks again

I dont know if the adventure pass in oregon is the same for Glamis..There are a few lil places like mom and pop marts that advertise the passes right in front of theire store. They were 22 bucks for the 5 day pass or 100 for the year,Registration must be on you now because of so many hot bikes,Non registerd with a dummy tag and so on.the passes are just for your vehicles, none needed just for the bikes..You can also buy the passes online at american sand association, sand addiction magazine, and a few other places..Just google glamis passes and see what pops up..

I'm sure the pass is different. You can mail order one here:

http://www.imperialsanddunes.net/

I'm planning on running out there that week. Another guy from this site is going out there with some peeps too.

I'm probably gonna park off Gecko Rd at the loop or at pad 2-2.5. I like this side the best but others swear the washes are the better. Gecko has better dunes close while the washes are an easier ride to the big hill (Old's). Plus, there are some bitchin drags until sunset across from pad 2...

If you have a current ohv sticker from your home state with corresponding registration you are ok. You only need to buy a temp. cal. ohv sticker if you do not have one from your home state. No joke with what Lowbuck said, the rangers don't mess around down there. especially with glass, helmets and flags.

Well we just got back from Glamis. That was a hell of a trip! That is a long drive straight through. We had a hell of a great time. Jayzx750 it was great meeting you and riding with you! You made an awsome tour guide and we had a lot of fun. LOL next time we will remember to bring more beer buddy. Hope you can make it to Oregon some time soon and we will make sure to show you just as good of a time as you showed us! I must say Glamis is a hell of a lot different that the Oregon dunes and i have never spent so much time riding my banshee in 5th and 6th gear. I had a great time running the drags and jayzx750 and i had fun kicking everyones ass! You bike runs hard man! Last thing all the people we met were very frendly and one guy even took us for a ride in his 450 horse ls1 rail which was crazy. Hope we get to do it again soon! I will get pics posted soon.
