Ok, so Ive always been a four stroke guy,

just traded for a sick banshee. Took it out today and smoked everyone i raced, untill a 250r pulled up with a 330 sticker on the tank and he roasted me.

I was just wondering what you guys recommend for quick easy hp gains for easy relatively low cost mods.

heres what ive got so far

64.5mm Wiseco pistons

Toomey T5 pipes

+4 swingarm

K&N filters ( with bigger jets)

what else can i do to this machine to get it going faster?? All suggestions are welcome.

g

thanks alot

some bigger carbs, cylinder porting and a cool head with changeable domes and race gas.advanced timing.that should have you in front of the 250r.the onlt thing running with you then may be another highly modified banshee.

if u have a airbox still u can take your airbox lid off and change ur jets. but im gessing u have pods.... if u have T.O.R.S. still u should remove it/no hp gain from this but u should get rid of it....... cool head and diff domes will up your compression, +4 stroker, + timing, and port job will give u a bigg gain .... u could get some 35mm pwk carbs. vforce 3 reeds cages.... thas about it as far as i kno.... anyone add if u wanna can give better info if i kno what kind of riding u do.....

Do you want easy or cheap?

Really, pulling 2 jugs and porting them would be a pretty easy job (on a banshee, its a hour job to pull the jugs). Its not really cheap, but its not bad.

If it doesn't have an aftermarket head, you could do that, and use small CC domes to raise your compression. But your looking at running better gas.

How was your traction during the race? Did you run out of gear? Did you have too much gear left over after the race?

Did you a) not get up to speed fast enough, or B) did not have enough top end?

If you feel like you're not accelerating like you should be...then do head, domes, and timing, or shorten the gears.

If you feel like you're lacking top end...get longer gears, or port and carb it.

Pretty much sounds like everyone covered the bases: V force 3s, F.A.S.T. head, timing plate, then porting if you need more! Check out the General section for Holiday/Christmas specials and have fun. You will see Great gains from the first 3 bolt on mods and Awesome gains from porting!

Hey thanks for the ideas,

these are all relativeley new to me cause im been a four stroke guy my whole life so if you could share alittle more info about each mod that would be great.

the v force reeds i looked them up looks like they go for about $200, it looks like the bolt in between the carbs and the intake valve? I could be wrong.

as for porting, how much does this cost? I assume i must have a shop do this?

the FAST head, how much is that?

also i looked up the timing thing and it looks like there are several options, what is the best route to take.

Thanks alot for the info guys, also i would like to stay on 91 octane and it would be nice if i could still keep it starting first kick, so do any of these mods jepeordize taht?

thanks alot for your help

here is a pic:

the one in the back ground is my roomates, its all stock except reeds

Yep the v forces go inbetween the cylinders and carbs. There already is a reed valve but the vforces are a better designe.

Porting must be done by a shop. It isnt like porting the head of a 4 stroke. They also opean up the ports in the sides of the cylinders. This changes when air and fuel come in and the exhaust goes out. It is like putting a Hot Cam in a 4 stroke.

not trying to start a argument here and i hope you agree.

putting hot cams in a 4 stroke is nothing like porting a 2 stroke.

you can put hot cams in but you can still port the 4 stroke head as well.

installing hot cams changes lift and duration ,

doesnt do anything to the 4 stroke heads intake/exhaust ports.

also doesnt change the combustion chamber or valve pockets, valve seat angles etc.

ya but porting a 2 stroke you can change the "lift and duration" of when that port opens and how long the air is coming in for.. so your theory is bunk..

my theory was even though hot cams are installed in a 4 stroke ,the head could still be ported.

If your looking for about 15hp I'd get a boost bottle. Make sure its chrome though. J/k  . An aftermarket head would be good, timing, different carbs, and porting if you feel like taking your top end off. I would probably have all my stuff taken care of before I ported my engine but thats just my opinion. Also don't overlook suspension or your gonna eat shit when your flying one day.
