2 Stroke Fury
i had a twist throttle on my blaster for one day cause i bought a new carb the match the BB kit and it came with a twist so i had to buy a new cable for my thumb throttle. i hated it so much especially for trails! Screw twist throttles! I prefer thumb all the way... I had converted to twist throttle on my 440ex and it was a big mistake! Trailriding was a hassle, and hillclimbing cost me 2 leg scars and alot of pain...

Pincushion
After 20+ years of riding bikes I much prefer a twist throttle. I only ride dunes on the quad though. Not sure I would like riding quad mx with a twist, but I love it in the sand.
04sand4
Thumb throttle sucks, i have ridden dirt bikes since i was a kid so TWIST THROTTLE is the only way togo . I ride in the dunes and havent had any problems with it.

toolman
I rode bikes from age 8 . Bought my first quad in 1986 and the first thing i did was change to a twist throttle and have had them every since. Have never had any problems or dangerous situation caused by the twist throttle and I'm now 46
250Rho
i hate twist throttles when i started riding motorcycles i started with a moped and everytime i started screwing around i got the death grip wheelied and crashed. its alright for my fulsize bike because i dont screw around on it and the twist is ok and keeps my thunb from fallen off like it does on my atvs but itd be so dam dangerous for me to have twist throttles on the quads. i.e. when i hit the front brakes i roll my hand back on atvs to hold on better. not good with a twist

drifter360
just recently bought a 97 "shee that has a twist throttle on it. i have had one trip to dumont with it and had no problems riding with it in the sand, i rode my buddys 'shee and actully perfered my twist throttle over his thumb. i ride a harley so im used to the twist... my raptor700 has the factory thumb throttle and i do perfer that on the trails and in the desert. i think it all depends on what your used to and what you fell safe with. as with anything mechanical, both have a risk of malfunction anda throttle stick... just rided heads-up andb perpared. HiRoller
I ride dunes only and much prefer a twist throttle. You have to learn to squeeze the tank with your knees and take it easy for a day or two until you get used to it.
boneyardbanshee.
Its gonna depend on your terrain. Sure you can get used to it. But for example... I live in PA, there is no feasable way to ride the trails with a twist. There are so many roots, rocks, gopher holes, I would end up in the trees in no time flat. However, if I was doing some dirt roads, I would love to crank on a twister.
devin4491
My banshee came with a twist throttle, it was the first thing I replaced. I have ridden 250r's with twist throttles, and it was down right dangerous in my eyes. The machine is just too heavy to have a twist throttle. You need to be able to have a full grip, with no worries about moving a throttle. When I get into a bad situation, its nice to be able to pull your thumb off the throttle and just hang on for the ride. lol or bury the throttle and hope you get through it... but i had all dirtbikes up until last april when i got my first ltr... but i had 2 rm250's and a kx125 and hated the twist throttles.. lil flipped on of my 250's twice and wayy over shot a triple cuz of that damn twist throttle... lol
