MarineNYC
When in Glamis Im planning on dropping my dome size from 21 to 18 and throwing +7 timing at it I have a guy that going to deliver 55gl drums to my site. A drum of CP108 is normally what they run. I can also get VP. Th drum of CP is around $420. Works out to around 7.50 a gal. Can I run 50/50 on that set up of will I need to run straight CP or will I need the VP 110. Now that set up isnt final I just new I would see the most potential out of it. So the main question is CP or VP?
wacko2000
Sean, if you dont change your dome and timing, Can you still run race fuel? what are the pros and cons? Ill have about 155psi +4 timing. I might run some race gas also if its worth the performance.

So the main question is CP or VP? That's outrageous for buying bulk. I can get 76Fuel and Sonoco 110octane locally for $300ish a barrel, which is $5.55/gallon. There's another guy that sells 15 gallon drums of VP110 for $90ish, which is $6.00/gallon. The 110octane at the pump around here is about $6.30/gallon. You'er paying about $1.20 more per gallon than I'm paying at the pump. And yes, there are alot of gas stations that sell it at the pump around here. You just have to put it in a container or an un-tagged vehicle that's on a trailer.
MarineNYC
What octane is AVGAS?
jbooker82
You pay for the name with VP. I usually run Sunoco 110 or Citgo 110 with +7 timing and 175 psi of compression. I have ran it 50/50 before when I didnt have enough for the whole riding trip. You could run VP red straigt with no problems. It is supose to be one of VP's cheaper fuels. josh
2001Stroker
What octane is AVGAS? I went to the municipal airport down the street and asked them after I built my big block. They said it was like 83, I think. It was lower than regular pump gas. JP-5 and JP-8 is what they use in military jets, which is purified kerosene. Titan up
I would run straight race gas. JMO but I think 18cc domes and +7 timing might be a little too much for ripping around the dunes basically WOT for 15-20 mins at a time, in between beer stops. I've just never had good luck running high compression and timing while duning distances in the dunes. I'd hate for you to make that trip out there and then your motor come apart on you. Keep that bike reliable and running the whole time your there!!
firebanshee
What octane is AVGAS? AV gas is 100 octane that i have bought at a local air port, it is usually blue in color.

True but you won't be able to run jet fuel in a banshe....it's just like diesel fuel...

Jet fuel is kerosene and AV gas is the fuel you would use in prop planes.

2001Stroker
AV gas is 100 octane that i have bought at a local air port, it is usually blue in color. Well, the seasoned aeronautical dude at the local municipal airport here told me it is junk gas, kinda like farm fuel. I specifically remember him telling me that the octane rating was lower than pump gas. Not saying that either one of you are wrong, because I ain't no chemist.
