hollisatp
I have leaks from all sides in between the reeds and the boots. At first it was huge and I could not get any pressure at all. So I made a second set of gaskets so I would have one on each side of the reed. I still have tiny tiny bubbles of air coming out. I have the screws tightned down all the way but no go.. any help??? RUDEDAWG
I usually use a little rtv. on both sides off all the intake gaskets, just a lite coat. Works every time.
XxMeltIcexX
I usually use a little rtv. on both sides off all the intake gaskets, just a lite coat. Works every time. Those gaskets should seal just fine without rtv, get yourself a new set (all four) and try again.
spurdy
You can use Yamabond or whatever you have to seal your cases with. I don't use anything, it is just a pain in the ass to clean the gasket material off (if yamabond or similar is used) in the event you ned to replace petals or something. If both surfaces are clean and smooth the gasket should seal just fine. SP
hollisatp
hmm maybe there is a bit of lock tight in the bottom that is keeping the screws from bottoming out...
Wiz
how much pressure are you puttin in the cylinders? and as said above you can use a sealant just not alot and make sre your surfaces are clean, gaskets should work, you should not have to locktite the intake screws either if you get them tight they should not come out, with locktite they could be a huge pain to get out in the future. might want to run a thread chaser through all the holes and make sure they are clean and that the bolts you are using are correct length so they are not bottoming out. deckheight
What he said... Shouldn't be having problems with new gaskets! dajogejr
I always use RTV on both sides of both gaskets on the intakes. I usually use a very fine roloc pad (scotchbrite) to clean up the mating surfaces, then brake clean to get any fuel/grease/dirt off them. I also use just a dab of blue loc tite on the intake bolts. Even after being properly tightened....I've had some back out on me, causing a lean condition. Luckily I caught it early before it got ugly. As said...how much pressure are you using for the leak down? You don't want more than 6PSI.... Edited December 11, 2008 by dajogejr
hollisatp
yeah only 6lbs.. but I did not have any gasket on the boot side and as I pumped the ball... the air came out between the boots and reeds just as fast!!! Then I tried to make myself a set of gaskets, but I used the black paperlike gasket roll, which allows air to escape! So when I sprayed my water/soap mix I got alot of tiny bubbles... I put some sealant on it and now it is very air tight! Thanks a bunch!!
