studroes
im lookin to put some bigger carbs on my banshee and im debating which way to go with it. ive asked around on here some and alot of guys are sayin to go with the 35 pwks. two of my buddies i ride with run 40mm lectrons and they love them. do you guys have any input on them? pros and cons? and where is the best spot to get a set of them? FASTOYS
Lectrons are high $$ PWKs are MUCH cheaper especially with our sale right now. Can get Lectrons i beleive through Packard Enterprises. May ask Dajogejr as he might know a better place too. For the price i would go PWKs! Not sure what motor you have but 33-35pwks work well on most Banshees unless its a FULL drag or BIG motor.
studroes
im runnin a 4mil with shearer inframes and 20cc domes. we do mostly all pavement riding and accasionaly hit ur the sand pits around here but we mostly just do all top end riding. are there any differences powerwise between the lectrons and pwks? Snopczynski
All the testing we have done has indicated lectrons make more bottom end power and hold the same mid and top end power as anything else. I dont like them because they can be a bitch to adjust. Other than that its a kick as carburetor. I got my old ones from Dave Roberts at ILR Performance. He is the Lectron king. FASTOYS
I've tried both and didnt see much difference IMO.
Snopczynski
How long did you spend messing with the needle? Who gave you a starting point?
shanYE west
I'd go with PWK's also, Lectrons are nice carbs but.. unless you can get a steal of a deal... go with the PWK's. Havn't seen any performance gains from the lectrons up this way either. Packard Racing is the best place to get the Lectrons if your gonna go that route. wesw
LECTRONS ------------------------ PROS NO jets to buy ever again. the needle controls the idle and the mid range and the powerjet is your main. i notice a bit more low end compared to pwk but talking not much but its jetted fat down low. to control the idle and blah blah you adjust the length of the needle. measure both ones with a caliper and makes sure they are the same length. CONS ------------ price they are 6 bills easy unless you find a hell of a deal. that or used the adjustments arent easy to control meaning if your bike likes a small pilot to idle but a rich mid range it hard to do with just controlling the needle now dennis can get you different needles for whatever but they arent cheap to just start swapping out. my cub likes a richer mid range but it will load up at idle so it doesnt idle the best. i have it really close it idles higher than i would like but the power delivery is nice so i just deal with it not idling the best. pwk are like others have said. cheaper but jets can be $$$ and i have a bag of jets and needles for them. $$$$$$ will say lectrons are not as cheap but if you get them adjusted they are a sweet carb little to no cable resistance wont wear your thumb out. anyways hope that helps that is for gas by the way if your running alky i would only suggest lectrons really easy to run from what ive seen. studroes
yeah i think im leaning towards the lectrons. they just sound to be a less maintenance carb. what size do you guys recommend i look into? alot of locals around here run them but they are getting out of wheelers cuz the town is shutting down alot of the trails so im sure i could find some fairly reasonable. all we ride here is pavement seeing there is no good legal place to ride anyways lol so im basically looking for all the topend i can get. im runnin a 4mil with shearer inframes and it really rips in the lower gears but i just want to get more out of my higher gears. any suggestions would be great. thanks again guys!! wesw
i think they make a 34/36 that would be a good carb for a 4mm
studroes
one of the guys around here has a set of 34s he would sell me for $400 with the cable and pod filters. does that sound like a reasonable price?
