It is powder coat, it's just kinda hard to tell in the pictures but it's not bare aluminum

Yep. The one I got is power coated or painted, It has a metallic finish. I actually had to remove some of the paint to get it to move in the engine case.

mine wasnt rough where the bolt goes through either. i think id send her back for another if you got the time before using it. mine was a little snug to slide too but i just tapped on it with a hammer and screwdriver real soft and it turned. i didnt think about sanding some of the paint off

well, i WAS thinkin about buyin one of those until i saw how tore up yours looked. not the greatest craftsmenship. guess ill go with the ricky stator timing plate.

But why on earth would you powder coat an item that will NEVER be seen, which will NOT rust, is beyond me...

i dont know. why would somebody buy a billet one?? for the same reason i guess. bling factor??

Easy...the billet is a better piece, less prone to stripping, etc.

Up until Chariot, the price of a RS plate was 35 and the pro design was 90.

The Chariot is 50. For 15 more, I will get a billet plate.

Plus...Chariot is local to me, and I support his products.

You might have the higher output one that has 2 lighting outputs, If so that other box is the voltage regulater for the second lighting output.
