05.Banshee.SE Posted November 29, 2008 Report Share Posted November 29, 2008 Tomorrow I'm installing my Pro Design Head, 21cc domes, and a Chariot Timing plate (+4.) I was wondering what kind of troubles you guys ran into, any tips you may have, etc. I am NOT asking how to install anything. I have all that information. I just want to know what to expect, what kinds of problems you guys might of had, etc... Wildcardracing Posted November 29, 2008 Report Share Posted November 29, 2008 you will want to use a bit of grease or vaseline on the o-rings to keep them in place when intalling the head. locogato11283 Posted November 29, 2008 Report Share Posted November 29, 2008 the worst part is going to be taking the stock head studs out. those PD are a pain in the ass since you have to dick with that shit. take your time, do it right. use some yamabond on the threads when you install the new ones. make sure you have some bearing grease or something to hold the o rings in place, otherwise sometimes theyll move around. as for the timing plate.. youre gonna need the flywheel puller. its a simple swap. just make sure your woodruff key goes back in correctly. I have double nutted the top of the stud and use heat from my hand held propane torch at the bottom of the stud so you dont snap one off in the cylinder. deckheight Posted November 30, 2008 Report Share Posted November 30, 2008 Some of them can be a real pita! Hopefully you won't have to deal with that though. Penetrating oil, a stud socket and repeated heat/cool cycles usually get the stubborn ones... That's one of my biggest concerns. Thanks again all. When i did my rebuild i didnt replace the studs is that bad or is that just a standard procedure you guys do? They looked fine threads still in good shape and no bends or anything. They looked fine threads still in good shape and no bends or anything. They are talking about replacing the stock studs with the studs provided from Pro Design. Threads are to destroyed to double nut (didn't have a 12mm wrench anyways), the propane torch I tried to use was from like 1970 and caught fire and almost blew up in my garage, but I played fireman.
