Hey guys, i wont go into whole story just cut it down to this. I got a set of Pro-X 68mm cast pistons in my shee. Just wondering will forged pistons make that much difference? Seeing as im not doing any further mods at the moment i was wondering would i be wasting money on a new set of forged pistons when i already have new casts in?

Cheers

Forged are a little lighter, stronger, and have more longevity, but if you already bought cast stick with them theyll be ok. If you have an option go forged, but stick with watch you got its not worth it since you just bought new cast one's

On any High rmp motor you do not want cast pistons. The only piston you should put in a banshee is a wiseco. I learned this the hard way. Cast pistons blow up. Only lasted me 7 months. Cast suck  I had a motor in my shop last week, Cast pistons. They crumbled upart. Jammed up the crank. Had to split the cases. Cylinders were only 64.5mm had to take them up to 66mm.

I try to find other alternatives to wiseco myself but.. to each their own. Never had a problem with cast.. Ran Pro-X pistons for years in my duner bike with no problems... but had a handfull of failures with wisecos. I'm actually VERY happy with the WSM pistons I've been using. Got 2 seasons on them and I bet I could have easily gone a third or maybe a 4th.

The forged vs. Cast debate will go on forever.. best thing to do is a search and gather as much info as you can and make your own opinion.

Forged pistons also distribute heat better. Cast pistons hold heat in the head more than forged. Where a forged piston will conduct the heat away from the piston head and in to the skirts. That is part of the reason why a Forged piston requires a little more clearance.

I look at it this way. How many people do you see running forged pistons that race professionaly.

As fouled out said to each his own and we can argue about this forever, running cast pistons are kind of taking achance and alot of people have problems, but then again alot of people dont. It just depends and as I said if you just bought cast you can run them for a little while. If you have the money to do forged and you dont plan on going to a bigger bore later on then go ahead, but if you do plan on running a bigger bore I would stick with cast for now. Im only one person and can only give you my opinion but That would be my decision

I run forged In my car for a reason..

ok? what is your reason? thought we were talking about two-stroke applications. Forged are better, no doubt about it. But if i had a new set of cast pistons in i wouldnt take them out and re-do it.
