grpark20
Todays question is....After you guys put together a fresh engine, how long do you wait before you do a leak down test? Do you do it immediately, let the case sealant dry, wait 24 hrs, or what? Also, do you do the hold 6 psi for 6 minutes with no less than 5 psi at the 6 minute mark or? I interested in what some of the builders do too.
278
Here call Brandon at Wildcard Racing 435-660-1979, he's been my mentor. Your suppose to run it through the break in heat cycles first before you do it. Here's the process. Assemble and install find out a ball park jetting and run it a little rich just in case, start it up variate the throttle, but dont rev it high or let it idle, until its at opperating temp, it should take about 6-7 minutes or more depending on temp your doing it in, then shut it off and let it cool backj down to normal room/outside temp(wherever you are). Do this 4 times then re-torque all your bolts. Then do a leak down and compression test
FASTOYS
I do the Pressure test when motor assembly is finished. They should hold 6psi for 6 minutes. They say 1psi leakage per minute is acceptable but not in MY shop!!
