Winter Jetting.

Recommended Posts

Current Setup:

-Toomey T5s, K&N Pods, Ported cages w/ Carbon Fiber petals, TORS Removed... @ Sea Level, 67-110*, 65-80% humidity.

-330 mains, 25 pilot (want to bump up to 27.5), stock needle position (middle.)

My Question:

How should I change my jetting for the under 65* temps which we usually experience at night?

(My first winter with a Banshee...and I live in FL btw, so we dont have much of a winter...it's usually 65-70 during the day which is fine, but I want to keep night jets on hand.)

1 of two things. You're too rich to begin with, or you haven't blown the motor....yet.

Generally...1 main jet size larger for every 20 to 25 degree drop in temp.

We ride in 80 to 90 degree weather here in summer time. low to sub zero temps in the winter (ice racing, etc.)

Generally, it's 3 jet sizes.

It all depends on how spot on your jetting is to begin with.

On mine, I just run it a little rich in the Summer so it will still be fine in the winter. I don't ride when its colder than 50 or hotter than 90, though. This is on an every day rider, not on any of the drag bikes. Those have to be tuned day to day, or hour to hour, lol.

That's what I was looking for.

I know my jetting is off, I haven't plug chopped it yet...I just got the damn thing put together, chill.

to make it easier, for night/ day changes, you can jet one size rich for day, and moove the needle and put the air box back on for night if you got it

stupid thing won't let me mod post, so here

to make it easier, for night/ day changes, you can jet one size rich for day, and moove the needle and put the air box back on for night if you got it. i adjusted mine for 10 degrees minus, and then it warmed up to 33, and damn it i'm fat, so it pulled the lid, and it still boggs a little, but ripps otherwise

  • 1 month later...

Hi. I'm new to this forum and my english is pretty bad so im sorry about it. I just bought a 2001 banshee last week ago and I have a question about winter jetting. The guy who sold me the bike told me that it was jetted (His bikeshop jetted it for him with a dyno)for summer and he never used it in cold weather.

mod

main jet is 360

needle on the 4th clip from the top(so its the 2nd richest setting)

pilot jet: didnt check it yet (im assuming its 27,5)

t5 pipe

tors removed

stock airbox with lid on but there is a hole on it.

cool head from pro design

porting: (dont know what kind)

k&n filter

the weather in winter is around -4 / 14 F or - 10 / -20 celscius

and in summer its around 70 if you wanted to know.

I dont know my elevation, but its not really high from sea level.

I was thinking of trying 390 main jet or maybe 400. What do you think about it? And what about the needel. Do you think I need to move it to the richest setting? And what pilot jet should I be using? one size bigger or more than the one I have right now?

Can I blow off my motor if the pilot jet is too small?

thank you very much guys! oh and happy new year btw!
