You need to give more info, such as why you're looking to replace the swing arm. I have an 89 with all stock suspension except for Works front shocks and it's all good. A wheel hasn't fallen off yet. I added a 2" extension to keep the front down more than it's up.

Remember it was designed for sand and dirt.

If you're just doing some recreational riding, they sell those stock style swingers on eBay for like 250. Do you plan on jumping or hard racing? If not, one of those might work out good for you. I don't know what brand mine is, but it looks just like one of those on eBay, and I beat the piss out of it. No problems yet. It was on the bike when I bought it.

stock swingarms are fine,a bit heavy, but very strong, the only thign that sucks is the carrier and chain adjustment design, that old style blows cock definitely , if you ride hard , lot of uneven ground and whoops, the carrier eats bearings, there are only 2 and very thin, if you put a wider axle in the stock carrier it will only eat bearings faster because of the added leverage , but tons of people still do it, its ok to reuse the stock hobs on a new axle, as long as there is no play, if there is play on the splines, the old hub splines will destroy the new axle splines quick, if your gona replace the axle, definitely at least replace the bearings while you are in there too, if not the swingarm bearings too, you dont need to buy the whole pivot works kit, all balls and worldwide both sell single bearings and seals, much cheaper, have lasted just as long as the pivot works do

I do alot of trails and open area.. Sorry I didnt give alot of info. I was going to upgrade to a +2... I baught the lone stars +2+1 set up and looking to the elkas for the front.. I plan on building a bigger motor later on and Im sure I will need the +2.. Im at a 4mil right now with the motor.. If I can remember the chain tensioner is a lil beat up as the kid didnt have a skid for it.. I plan on beating the piss out of it and like stated it takes a huge beating.. Thas what I was looking @ the stock style swinger to hold me over its like 200 bucks with the skid mounting hardware shit.. But basicly.. do I have a reason to replace it? No I just wanna replace it to have it " new " and a +2 setup & i know how they look...

I gotcha. Well, this no name swinger that I have has been up several steep hills, off many jumps, and flys through the trails. Like MJ said, the bearings take a beating because of the extra pressure on them. I have a +4 axle, so mine takes a little more. I just replaced mine a couple weeks ago. But, bearings are like $30, and it takes about 30 minutes to replace them. I just drilled my carrier and put a zerk fitting in it, so I can grease the bearings. You just remove the inside dust cover on the bearing itself. They should last alot longer, actually getting greased on a regular basis.
