What To Do To My Banshee

I have a 2001 Banshee and all I got on it is T6 Toomey Pipes and Wheels. Most of my riding is in the woods but there are parts where the trails open up and I like to open it up. I've been thinking of doing some mods to it but I dont know what I should do. Any suggestions of what I could do to it that would make it faster and better for the type of riding I do?( I also like dragging my friend on his Predator 500)

Thanks

Well for that type of riding, you could start with a Noss cool head to help cool it and a little more low end grunt. Get you an adjustable timing plate and set it to +4 for even more added power and some V force3 reeds wouldn't hurt any either. Thats a good start untill your really wantin to whoop on some......... Then it would be worth getting port work to go with it "Herr juggs" youll find him on here when your ready.

Depending on your budget start with maybe gearing lower (woods riding), timing plate set at +4, cool head with 20-21cc, then V force. Those simple bolt-ons will help broaden your powerband a bunch!

Porting was my biggest improvement, I had mine done at Pride Racing from ebay. They also gave me lots of tech advice , hell I still email them with questions, they know their sh$#. My 2 cents is to check around, don't pay more than you have to, price definately doesnt reflect quality.

Good luck

mod the air box and dump the tors if not already done. after the cool head and timing I would say suspension. +2 a arms with better shocks revalve, respring or replace the rear shock. suspension is an after thought for a lot of people. good suspension and steering stabalizer will benefit a woods/cross country rider a lot.

Exactly. Save up some cabbage and get good chromoly adjustable wider and 1" more forward then get better suspension all around. That will take more seconds off of your lap times in the woods than bolt ons for now. Then go for the Noss Head, billit timing plate, vf3s and a better carb setup.

If you want to get an agressive port job down the road your gonna have to ditch them TR6s and go with a better suited woods pipe like Pro Circuts, PT Mids, DMC Aliens, or CPIs

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

Yeah I was looking at timing plates, reeds, and things like that.

What exactly does the timing plate do, and how easy/difficult is it to put in a new one and what effects can i have on my quad.

I have somewhat of an understanding of what reeds are for, and do, but I'm not positive and what effect will they have on performance.

The Noss head, what will that do for me? One of you guys was saying it would keep it cooler, what other things will it do to performance?

And you also said a carb setup. I'm almost positive I still have the stock carb setup, but I'm not totally sure because I bought this from my brother a few months ago and I;m not sure if he did anything with the carb.

I also looked at porting from F.A.S.T. and I sent an email to them and he suggested doing timing plate, reeds, and head and all that before I go to porting it.

I'm just looking to see how much each thing will cost me and whether it's something that takes more skill to swap out, or if its a easy replacement, or if the quad/engine would need to be sent out.

Thanks for your help guys.

Oh also, I dont only do woods riding. I often go out to PA around Trevorton, Shamokin, Tower City, and Paragon in that area, and there is a lot of open area around there, so the mods I'm looking for aren't strictly for woods riding because a lot of the riding I do isnt just in the woods. I'm not looking for a drag bike, just something that will perform decently in the woods and be fast when it needs to be.

Thanks

Suspension, suspension, suspension...... You buy all the performance parts for your motor you want but w/o a decent suspension (front end at least) you arent gonna be ANY faster in the woods. I know the places you ride, I've ridden them all, alot. And just another thought, if you dont already have 6 Ply tires....... Spend that money there first

Maybe I'll catch you on Trail 1 @ Tower and roost you and the Predator

Yeah I have Holeshot HD's on it and I was talking to some guys I went riding with the other day and I was thinking that I will probably get reeds and a timing plate because those are some easy things to do to it that can increase performance without possibly affecting the reliably of the engine. It is very reliable now and I would like it to stay that way. I just wanted to ask about the Noss Head. Is it easy to swap out? Like would I be able to do it in my garage without having to send it to a shop? And could it possibly affect how the engine works, by means of how reliable it is. And what effects will the Noss Head give? And as for the timing plate, what exactly does it do and how easy of a swap is that? I'm assuming that the different numbers are to increase low end (while decreasing top end) or vice versa.

Thanks again.
