broken ground strap

so my cousin bike wouldnt start checked his plugs and noticed that the ground strap was gone. what could have caused the ground strap to break off in the first place? he replaced the plug and now the left cylinder hardly smokes or gets hot, but it is getting spark and fuel. checked the compression and left cylinder has 60psi and right 110psi. I'm pretty sure his top end is screwed but before we tear it down is their anything else we should check?

the previous owner said its a 370 long rod but looks all stock to me except for out of fame drag pipes, dual k&n's and stock carbs converted to alky

Methanol and no ground strap on the plug. I would say it was lean and melted it off. If your asking these types of questions you shouldnt be running methanol. It is a pain to mess with and should only be run for drag racing. It is very finiky, it doesnt take much to mess up a top end.

well the thing is is that he had it at my house for a while and said he was coming to pick it up. decided since it was sitting for a while why not start it up. started within 3 kicks on race gas and both cylinders fired. 3 days later at his house he tried to start it on race gas and wouldnt start. thats when he found the strap was gone. so it shouldn't have been lean if he was trying to start it with gas.
