I couldnt measure it because I sadly dont have any kind of ruler or reference, but how would the float not be in the right position if I never messed with it before? I am like a doctor doing heart surgery when I work on the bike so I know I didnt bend or drop anything. Anyway it leaks over night from the overflow tube. It wont do it right after I shut if off. Im 85% sure it leaks while riding cause a friend said he seen gas in a creek after I crossed it. Im sure its jetted spot on. It runs great. Like I said I just put them back on last night after spraying the jets and everything out with compressed air, I was hoping it might have been a little piece of crud. Other dumb thing I do is leave the gas on while I store it. only cause I forget to turn it off. None of my other bikes have had this problem, but last night I turned it off and ran the bowls out of gas, surely that will help haha Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
jjn56 Posted November 6, 2008 Report Share Posted November 6, 2008 I went through pretty much the same thing even put in carb rebuild kits and still leaked when sitting, finally got it to stop leaking when running at least. badbrad Posted November 7, 2008 Author Report Share Posted November 7, 2008 id really like to fix it tho i hate the fact that gas could be leaking while im riding, cutting my ride short... i turned the gas off and let the bowls drain, of course no leak so im 100% sure its the overflow.. the floats arent sticking either. 2001Stroker Posted November 7, 2008 Report Share Posted November 7, 2008 It's probably just dripping a little when the bike's not running. When you're riding it, I would bet it isn't even dripping. Just because the engine's using the fuel up, before it has a chance to drip. It won't hurt to ride it. My petcock was leaking, only when it was switched to run or reserve. Doesn't hurt anything, just gets 2-stroke oil on everything. That was my excuse to the old lady, to buy a Pingle last week. I told her it was wasting that $7/gal gas. I really hate having oil splattered all over shit. would it just be the needle or both the needle and the seat? that a dealer item i presume? or does all that come in a carb rebuild kit? this blows. I really hate having oil splattered all over shit. would it just be the needle or both the needle and the seat? that a dealer item i presume? or does all that come in a carb rebuild kit? this blows. usually just the rubber tip worn on the needle, but it's sold as "needle and seat" up here you can get them at any atv store, but do some shopping around. i've seen them over 40 bucks a piece at some places, and as low as 35 a pair at others, but that was 3-4 years ago. it's commonfor them to go out in about 5 years or so, but it doesn't sound like you've had them in that long. it is a good idea to replace them if they are leaking. if you park downhill, they might leak twards your intake. probbably wont, but i jus say that because it happened on my sled years back. the trailer toung was on the ground all summer, and it filled the crank and exhaust. when i tried to start it, it barely ran, and then i thaught i flooded it, so after a half hour trying to clear the extra fuel, i discovered what happened and had to pull the motor and dump it out (no drain plug on skidoo) needless to say, i wasted more than the price of needles in wasted fuel and a lot of work. i have seen floats go bad before so you should still check boyancy :thumbsup: Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
