caddyman
So I am going to start working on my 2000 Shee my boy rides. Last time out it got stuck in second gear. He was hill climbing and I guess when he shifted to second the foot lever went wayyyy up, and was hard to get to neutral. So we tinkered a bit and continued to ride, was o.k. for a few......then he couldn't get anything other than second. Totally stuck now, we can't find anything at all. So where should I start? I have not had a chance to do anything yet with it so I figured I'd get your guy's opinion on where to look. Thanks.........

I had a similar problem and a new shift shaft fixed it.
Snopczynski
IF THE FOOT LEVER MOVED UP, THEN THE SHIFT SHAFT IS BENT, AND THE RETAINER PRONGS THAT GO ON THE SHIFT STAR PEGS ARE NO LONGER CONTACTING.
C&B
ditto shift shaft is shot

clinton588
You have to pull off the foot peg, kick starter, clutch cover, kick starter set up, clutch, clutch basket, then you can get to the shift arm. The spring more then likely poped out of the arm. Just put it back in and check the adjustment on the clutch arm with the shift star. Also check the adjuster bolt for the shift arm, if it is broke that will also do it.

tapout94
go look up cascade innovations out of oregon and order a mod shift star and shift pro shift kit. you can order online or by phone. you'll love it!! as far as your shifting... i does sound like the shift shaft, if not... you will have to dig deeper, next check the shift forks for wear or bending and the shift drum for wear. but..... if your not quite sure what all it intails, buy a clymers manual. best investment i have made towards my shee yet! maxtrax
I am having a similar problem this morning. I was out bustin around and couldn't get it any lower than 5 but could shift 5-6 just fine. I managed to get it back home, and with 10 min of playing with it managed to find neutral. Would you guys say I have a similar problem with the shift shaft. FYI - I recently replaced the broken eccentric adjuster stud and readjusted it, haven't had any problems, but now I am having this problem. Not to down any parts any parts but I have a 02 Shee with all the stock clutch & shifter parts, with the excipton of Barnett HD springs. We tryed The shift star & shift pro in a bike that was hard to shift and the shift pro broke in about 10 hrs of riding. So what I'm saying is fix the problem first b4 you go spending money that won't fix the problem. After the problem is fixted then if you want to try something new it would be cool. Every bike is different some parts work and some don't.

If not pull your clutch cover off and look at your little spring on the shift arm behind the clutch basket. If not that check the adjuster stud to make sure it is ok.
