locogato11283
go with the 10mm cub. i went from a 4mm cub to 10mm cub and im very happy. its got that extra torque to pull the higher gearing. works great for me. as for the supercubs, i know 2 people with them who are very unimpressed with them. a lot of extra work to go slower than the regular cubs. J-Madd
I definatly agree that there are alot of strong running 10 mill cubs out there i have gotten beaten by some of them but i guess the point i was trying to make was if you set up your 4mill properly that it will run right with the 10mills or beat them. So i had it explained to me best when i wanted to up grade to a 10mill cub that i should save my money until i can buy something that will way out perform what i have allready gotten, he told me that he would gladly take my money and help me upgrade to a 10mill cub but i should wait and buy something that would beat the 10mill cub and the 4mill cub which makes sence to me because if i sold all my 4mill cub stuff and went 10 mill cub and then a 4mill cub came along and beat my 10mill cub i wouldnt be very happy so in my case i think i will wait and save my money like they always say you have to pay to play hahahah. That's a good point that I would have to agree with. I've beaten a few 10 mil Cubs on extended chassis's with my stock lightened chassis 4 mil; and it has only a cleanup port job; and will occasionally run 4.0s. If money is no object, I always think you should go way bigger/better when you upgrade ANYTHING (house, boat, truck, etc.)...just kind of skip the next stepping stone. If you run at a particular track, I would build a motor at the top of the CC range for a class if possible. I'm always stuck running a 392 Cub and 421 Cub in 0-550; and the 593 cheetah with the 0-650. Not that they aren't competetive in those classes, just that they are definately disadvantaged. shanYE west
It all comes down to having the right setup.. I've beatin 10mil cubs with my 421 also.. but.. I know that once they get them tuned in and setup properly it wont be the same story. If a properly setup 4mil will run with or beat a 10mil cub.. what will a properly setup 10mil cub do? I guess cubs in general are kinda a waste then because I race with some stock cylinder bikes that beat me and the 10mil cubs all the time. It dont mean my motor is junk.. Just that their BIKE is in a better state of tune. Its a complete package that makes the bike fast. Not just the motor. The 10mil cub has the mechanical advantage over the 4mil cubs.. Thats just one part of the puzzle.. now its putting the rest of it together and getting that power to the ground.. The more power you got.. the harder it is to get it to the ground. It was assumed that this guy only drag races when he was told to build a DM/Twister over the 10mil cub. He never stated what type of riding he does or intends on doing. Yeah.. I agree with "bigger is better" theory... but.. I also agree with their being a learning curve.. I've seen too many people jump right into the deep end and get in over their heads. They spend all that money on the big motor and didn't know how to tune it or set it up properly. Then either the bike blows up, or they start getting beat by the smaller bikes and they get discouraged and get out of the sport all together. firebanshee
I plan on drag racing only, at comp hill in florence on the sand and at dune fest in winchester bay and also at our local track in albany oregon which is 300ft sand drags i am a bigger rider i weigh 250 so i am after alot of torque i am not intrested in peak horse power as much as i am in alot of torque so i can get off the line better.Right now i have my bike at the dyno so we can try some different things but if i dont like the numbers i see i am going to change my set up even though i really like my 4mil cub. I was told that a 4 mill super cub set up right and ported right produces quit a bit more torque than my cub. I dont want to make money my deciding factor on what i want to build within reason i still want to stay married  i
