DallasGDub
I am not really concerned about haveing the fastest bike, but more or less comfort. I mean I want to be able to make it up hills and burn ass through trails, But racing is not gonna happen. That yz250 is a killer bike. I would love that bike. I would malke it work even if I had to get someone else to start it for me each time I road lol.... But I am looking more at a bike that is smaller in size that I will be able to manage easily. I have heard the kx's are about 2" smaller than the crf. I will do some checking into that compare years and such.
RollinRhino
The Kawasaki KDX has a lower seat height and is one of the best trail bikes ever made. Check one of those out.

Noted....I think I am gong to spend the day at diff dealers just checking ride hieghts. This will be a lot easier if I have a list of possible bikes, and then compare those... and then hit Craigslist and eBay lol.....
jayzx10r
Heres the catch, I am 5'3" 160lbs so it has to be around 35" seat hieght with a lot of power to move my husky ass. I blew right by the 5'3" thing.... I know you can remove seat padding or get a new low cut seat and get lower rise bars too... The YZ250 seat is 39 inches...gotta remember you are gonna sag the suspension a little bit. It's at least 3" less set at race sag. My bud Dave rides a YZ250 and he is 5'5" and 140lbs...he start it pretty easily. Mine never takes more than 2 kicks....unless it's after a crash. Then it takes 3!! The KZ250f has the lowest seat height at 37.5". The 4pokes's are harder to kick start based on my limited experience with them....especially when hot. projectbanshee33
My buddy makes seat lowering kits for the Honda CRF250R, CRF250X, CRF450R, and CRF450X. Check the kits out at www.speedmetaldesigns.com. Give him a call and ask what he all he has done to lower his wife's CRF250R. She isn't all that tall and has no problems starting and riding it, even in the dunes.
sled
i would look for an older YZ250F. the earlier four strokes had a more friendly all around power band, so they were good for trails too! those things also run for ever if taken care of correctly. lowering kits are easy to come by now, but they hurt the handling a bit. as for anyone saying the 2 strokes are just as good as the 4 strokes. explain to me why they don't let the 250 2 strokes in the 450 class anymore. they race with the 250F's now and they're still getting whooped! I'm all about banshee, but when it comes to bike theirs no knocking a thumper anymore. My 04 CRF450 is better than any of my buddies newer 2 strokes hands down. bansheejoel
YZ250s are fun. KTMs are nice (but expensive.) If not one of those, then the CR series, don't think I'd go any less than a 250. Its not even that ktm's are expensive. Its that all the parts are expensive to buy..levers,clutch,rims...etc Ktms are nice b/c they have the hydo clutch. A 250f any brand since there all damn near the same thing will have plenty of power to do what you want. No need for a 450, not going to use 50% of the power 90% of the time anywase. For trails, i would buy a crf250x. Those things kick ass. Its also hard to beat a nice kdx200, those things are a badass trail bike to, and they rip pretty damn good. hercalmighty
I have a 2007 YZ 125 and I love it. I'm 5'6", 190# and Ill go up against anything out there. I had a YZ426F and that thing was a beast but it was not for me. I did ride a YZ250F and that thing was nice. I went with the YZ125 because I like 2-strokes and my old YZ125 would whoop up on anything that I raced against. Also look at how heavy the bikes are. I think with us short guys that the lighter the bike the easier it is to start and hold up. The new YZ125 is only 199#, about 20# less then the 250F's and 40# less then the 450F's. If you do go 4-poke make sure it has the automatic decompression in it. The stupid decompression lever on the older ones sucks ass. You have to go through a whole ritual to get it started
Guest utleybanshee
im 5"8' 165 and i walk all over my homeboys 05 crf450 i have an 04 ktm 250sx.. it comes ready to ride with an huge fuel tank and a fmf fatty exhaust.. my previous bikes were a 93 suzuki rm 125, 95 kx250, and 97 zy250.. the ktm is the most comfortable bike has hydraulic clutch, brembo brakes and the fucking throttle response feels like its fuel injected and the powerband hits quick..
