DallasGDub
So I had a old 89 YZ that I loved. I now want a new dirtbike again. I am just out of touch with bikes it's not even funny. Heres the catch, I am 5'3" 160lbs so it has to be around 35" seat hieght with a lot of power to move my husky ass.
locogato11283
my dad has a 2008 crf250.. that bike fucking hauls.. i would say that all you really need is a 250 if youre going 4 stroke.. otherwise, just snag a late model cr250.. bellracing2
My buddy has a 08 kxf (i thinkis what it is ) kawie 250 4 stroke . he was an A class rider and says thats the fastest 250 for 08 . might be woth a look . I rode the yamaha 250 4 stroke when they first came out and it didn't seem very fast at all . Edited October 24, 2008 by bellracing2
Bansh-eman
I like the Hondas, Yamaha seems to be like 5 years behind the power curve on thier dirt bikes. I got my bussied CRF450 or what ever its called in my garage, that thing is very nice. If I was to buy a dirt bike it would be thaqt one
DallasGDub
I really like those CRF 250r's. Those are some clean bikes. I would have to lower it a bit to get to a nice size for me. I was wanting to go with a 4stroke just b/c it will be for trails. No need to have tons of topend. I want the torque.
Bansh-eman
you want the 250 or the 450?
DallasGDub
you want the 250 or the 450? Honestly, I dont think I could touch the ground on a 450. Thats a big bike for someone my size. Hell I am not even sure I could fit a 250. lol....
278
If your looking for a new bike I'd say since you want a 4-stroke go with a 2008 kawasaki KX250F Monster energy edition, it's like the sickest 08/09 I've seen, my bro has one and it rips like no other! I'll second that! My buddy has a new 08 kfx 250 and it flies. 1st dirt bike I ever rode and scared the shit outta me. i have a hard time reaching the ground on it and im 5'7" 180lbs. i couldnt kick it when sitting on it, he had to get it running for me or i would have fallen over. lol I guess thats what happens when you have no legs and have to buy 30" length pants

My friends son has a 08 CRF 150r big wheel, it fit me perfect. It is just as big as my old 125. It has the power of a 85 2stroke, But they are the only one in that class out right now. So they are still priced to high. Might have to wait until KFX catches up with something bigger than the 100 and smaller than the 250. That price will drop then. 05.Banshee.SE
YZ250s are fun. KTMs are nice (but expensive.) If not one of those, then the CR series, don't think I'd go any less than a 250.
RollinRhino
Recently rode a 2008 (yes that is correct, a 2008) YZ250. By far the best two stroke bike in the modern era of MX. Not easy to find 2007s at dealerships ever since the AMA changed the rules. Two strokes have made a somewhat surprising comeback in the 250 class. RollinRhino
To what I was saying, deals like this can be found everywhere in this economy. I don't know the guy, but I can tell looking at various points on the machine that this bike was taken care of. 2007 Yamaha YZ250
jayzx10r
Call me old fashioned, but I'll take a 2-stroke any day!! Still has a great power to weight ratio and it is hard to fault a YZ250. The 450s have more power but in the dirt, my YZ is perfect for me...and I'm like 20-25lbs more than you. If I rode in the sand only though, it would be CR500 all the way!! Even though I hate the sound of the 4pokes with a vengence, if it were better to me, I'd buy one...it's just that they aren't. I rode my friend's '06 Honda450 and it had monster power...actually more than I wanted. But the thing I didn't like was the gyroscopic effect from all the spinning parts...big honkin' crank, cam, valves, springs, just a lot more stuff in motion...plus the weight is higher up, raising the CG. If a 125 2 stroke works well for you, a 250 4-p would be good. My YZ has a lot more power and a way better powerband than a 4poke 250. To make it faster you have to do a LOT of work ($$$) to make it quick. Why bother....  YZ!!  Ready to go, out of the box. Maybe throw on a Fatty and call it a day!!

Hell I am not even sure I could fit a 250. lol.... im 5'3 or 5'4 and i can ride an 03 kx125 fine and it rips. then i can also ride my dads 01 cr250 and thats a a little higher but i can still fit on it and it has a hella lot more power than the 125. my friend is also about 5'4 or 5'5 and races his 08 kx250f and he fits on it but i've never rode the kxf250f. so i dont know how fast it is.
