who does the cheapest porting?

Recommended Posts

could you help me out guys? im looking to spend like 170 for both

the one guy told me it would be like 250 per cyclinder

Believe me, i understand wanting to save some cash and get the most you can with what you want. That said, I dont think i would base my port guy based on the cheapest price. If done wrong, the bike could very easily run worse and make less power than stock. Read through some posts on here you will see lots of names. Call them and see what they say.

List off the top of my head in no special order.

FAST, K&T, passion, herrjuggs, A&S, Nate Mccoy, LC performance, flotec, redline, white knuckle the list goes on and on. Cheapest isn't always the way to go

If you got anything more than a cleanup port for 170 on both...I'd be amazed.

Then you're going to wonder why there's not much improvement for the 170 you spent.

The average port job worth it's salt is going to be 350 to 600 dollars.

If the budget is that tight, you're not ready yet for porting...

If someone offers to do it for less than 400 (which would be cheap) run like hell. Expect to pay around 500 for a good port which will usually include a bore as well.

My porting prices start at $200 for a trail port up to $300 for single exhaust drag porting, with no bore. With a bore/hone and new pistons it would be in the $500 range for a nice dune port. You've got to look at what you're getting. Just because a cylinder is being ported doesn't mean it is in need of a bore. I don't bore cylinders unless it's neccissary, because I like my customers to get the most out of thier port job. I'd hate to short them one bore size for nothing. IMO, if a builder can control his porting tools then a bore isn't manditory with porting. Did I mention that I have a whole list of very satisfied customers, HMM maybe I need to bump my prices up??? I don't think so.
