wayfast1500
I have a 1990 banshee with the front j-arms. I have a full shop I can use which has every welding process in it along with a few mills and lathes. The front j arms are bent somewhere, and the ball joints are junk. Is there a universal ball joint I can buy that will either be able to press in the stock j-arm, or I could build my own j-arm around it? I need a new front setup and I dont see spending the expense of buying one when I can just make my own.
Bansh-eman
on stock arms the joints cant be repplaced. if you have the means to build arm rights and it wont cost you much, you can buy the ball joints and cut threads into the arms s they can be replaced in the future. wayfast1500
what would I use for balljoints?
Bansh-eman
would you want to use pressure greased with a rubber boot balljoint or a dry hiem joint?
Bansh-eman
i am out of the state right now to be able and get the part number off my extra set but if you want dry hiems call roger at fireball racing and see how much to buy them.... or you can ask him what kind they are. He is a little bit of a smart ass so he might not tell you where he gets them. 559-324-9533 or for ball joints call Wicked 417-695-2124

rubberneck
Arent the 87 warrior front balljoints threaded so they can be replaced? I think that is what some of the arm makers use. Plus they go right in the banshee spindles.
dirtfreak
arent the worrior ball joints and a arms the same thing as the banshee.i may be wrong but i think worrior swing arm axle foot pegs and alot of other worrior parts are the same as banshee.hiem joints would be perfect if you can whip somethin up to accept them.also some of the a arm makers out there use vw ball joints and they also mount right to the stock banshee spindle.thought i would give you another option. wayfast1500
that sounds good, Im just looking for the cheapest alternative. The sets I found are all in the $500.00 range, and I think I can make my own for less than half that.
Bansh-eman
as long as you have the means to do it right and keep the leverage point and everything where they belong make them your self!
wayfast1500
Yea Ill end up making them exactly like the stock ones to keep everything the same and just put a removable ball joint in so I wont have to replace the whole thing again. Lone star makes a set of D-arms stronger than the j-arms ball joints are replaceable and cost around $330.. but it is only the top j that is replace and you still use your bottoms....if this helps you... Bansh-eman
oh i forgot your making j arms not a arms. i wouldnt try and extend j arms. if you have the proper means i would convert your j arm frame to an a arm frame and then make the arms wider.
