i have some light purple coloring on my crank by where the lower connecting rod bearing is, its not on the conecting rod its on the counter weight or w/e it is on the crank. it got hot but its not purple around the bearing and the bearing is still tight and smooth...i think it ran to lean which blew the same piston...should the bearing be fine? thanks

yeah i know  a new crank for it is damn near $1300 and there a bitch to find used....how would i be able to check if its good?

If it isn't near the bearing, could it be from the crank being tig welded? According to your first post it sounds like that is the location you are describing.

some other people are telling me its where arctic cat puts the crank together at, b/c the crank is a few differnt pieces pressed together or somthing. And i was thinking, wouldnt the rod itself turn color first if it was the bearing that was putting off the heat since the rod is in direct contact with the bearing and what turned purple was about 3/8" away from the actual bearing
