Paddleboy
is the gain of a 4 mill with porting worth the money or should i just stay with porting and something like a coolhead. funds are low since i bought my house so i'm thinking instead of getting my shee ported this spring of just saving up the extra money and going for a 4 mill and porting to save money in the future when i want it faster. also what exactly is needed to get a 4 mill on a piped shee useing stock cylinders. thanks
elwilliams13
You need the long rod stroker crank, 795 pistons, either spacer plate with stock head or stroker domes with a coolhead type everything else can stay the same. I just built one and had it ported agressive trail and it runs with the YFZ450 all day. I also have some suspension work done and it helps to keep the power to the ground. It is about a 7% increase in all around HP with more bottom end than a stock stroke. If you can wait till you got the cash and do it all for the best effect. You can have your stock head modified. I went from stock to a HJR 4mil so I can't comment on the difference between it and only stock stroke ported cylinders. I was told the 4mil would give me a much broader powerband over just ported cylinder. I still use my stock carbs and 3 HD clutch springs. Give Kevin @ HJR a call and he can put you on the right path. Wildcardracing
thanks.. but with the 4 mill and port you should be able to whip those 450's. i got pipes and hang with them I believe he meant with bottom end power. His engine is set up for awesome low end grunt. You have several options with the 4mil: Short rod with your current pistons and a spacer plate or cut domes/rechambered head Long rod wth 795series pistons and a spacer plate or cut domes/rechambered head And all of the same porting types avaialable for the stock stroke. Added hp accross the board and a more broad usable power band. Plus if you do the chambered head or stroker domes...who has to know??
