name this piston

Going through a motor for a friend and ran into these, it has (1.00) stamped on the top, i dont have my bore gauges to check them (at work) ill mic the plate tommorow looks like .015 to .020, doesnt look like a wiseco to me what is it and why is this spacer on the bottom of the jugs? the jugs are stock no porting with a factory head that hasnt been shaved. vitos maybe? rod is stock length as well. tell me what ya think

If there is a spacer at the bottom then most likely (like 99%) you have a stroker crank. I dunno why you would have a spacer plate without one unless the deck and/or base has been modified. Probably a +4mil. 1.00 usually means that your pistons are for a bore of 1mm over stock. As for the pistons. They look like Wiseco 795 series pistons. Those pistons are used on +4mil cranks.

If I had to shoot in the dark with this one, and you say it's a stock stroke. I would have to guess that maybe the crank has been replaced with a long rod crank and pistons for the short rod crank were used. This would put them out the top of the cylinder thus requiring a spacer plate at the bottom.

that doesn't make sense, not trying to be a dick but if what you say is true, and it is until your last sentence. stock stroke long rod (+5mm to be exact) ok so you buy the piston with the wristpin 5mm higher than stock this puts everything back to normal, no need for a spacer with just longer rods. stroke is not affected by adding to the rod.

What he said was true and COULD HAPPEN. Long rod crank (5mm long con rod) with STANDARD not 795 series piston would cause the piston to come up 5mm out of the bore. Then put a 5mm spacer plate under the cylinders so the pistons dont pop 5 mm out of the bore.

 

 

Is that what this guy has. Probably not. That isnt a 5 mm spacer plate. Nor is that a very good idea to build a motor with any way. it would jack the port timings way up.

 

I would be looking for a 4 mill stroker crank.

Yeah, I know what you're saying but if it were a long rod crank, it doesn't mean that whom ever put the motor together used the correct pistons for the longer rod.

 

Just a thought.

 

yeah i hear ya now, i kinda missread your post when you said that would put the piston out the top of the cylinder, i thought you said it would put the piston at the top of the cylinder thats why i said it didn't make sense.

 

but yeah like booker said not very likely someone is gonna put a 5mm spacer under the cylinders.

 

my vote is still on the vitos 4mm stroker stock rods

they look like 795 pistons. Probably put that spacer in there as a cheap way to lower the compression.

 

I always lmao when I see people say the "long rod" increases displacement, or otherwise changes ANYTHING other than the rod angle.

 

The stroke is determined by the crank, not the rods.

 

If you put a +5mm long rod, stock stroke crank in a stock bike, with stock bore size how exactly do you have more than 350cc's?

 

 

Just exactly WTH is a 370 long rod anyway? :confused:
