mooney
Before I raise a red flag with the local cops and DMV, can some one confirm for me if back when the 1997 Banshees were new in CA they may not have had titles issued? The previous owner was told by the PO in CA that titles were not issued in 1997. I do trust the guy I bought it from, but he's never tried to register it, only raced it. I want a title and registration for club events and trail rides that require it, but now I'm concerned I may need to dig a bit to see if this deal was truely a good deal for me. It does have a 2006 CA sticker of some sort on the rear fender. Hmmmmmm I wonder how (why) the PO got a CA Banshee in PA anyway. I hope it wasn't hot. Any help would be much appreciated, Mooney in PA Edited September 15, 2008 by mooney

jayzx10r
I'm pretty sure it should have a title attached to it. My 80's dirt bikes had titles...my neighbor's 1986 HonDuh 200SX quad (he purchased it new) has a title, so I'd think you should prolly have one too!! Here is a link for all the contact info you could want on this topic: http://www.dmv.ca.gov/contacts/contacts.htm Hope that helps...Jay from SanD. Onesickcrewcab
All year Banshee's sold in CA were issued titles. What you need to do is contact the DMV and see if you can get a duplicate title. But since your not the registered owner they probably wont give it to you. Kinda screwed there, because I dont think they will provide you his contact information either. All you can do is call and ask questions. Good luck with that! Hope you get it worked out
mooney
Thanks for the info guys, looks like I may have be headed for a standoff with the PO if he can't get a title from the old owner. I am guessing my options may be to get my money back and return the Banshee or have him pay from my costs to get a new frame and title. Anyone in the PA MD DE NJ area s have a good frame and title in your name?
