bigweav81
Not sure what was meant here. If your wanting porting info for a diy type of thing just ask. I'd be prepared for the end of the world type of reaction though lol. If your serious, and let it be known there are plenty of helpful people around here. sleeper06
I encourage everyone to try. I like when they get through half then realize oh shit I still have to finish another one. It's a humbling experience. Then they bring it in to be "finished " .
sleeper06
The money builders get to port banshee cylinders Is a sin. In every other aspects of motor sports port work big money. Not so much with shees,
bigweav81
It's a shame this isn't a hot topic anymore. There's so much that happens, and goes on with porting, and what one is attempting to achieve. I've probably read this thread 30 times, and others like it. WTF HAPPENED TO SNOOP? He was absent before my time, but in nearly every porting thread created. Sent from my SM-S820L using Tapatalk
sheerider11
I "ported" a set of cylinders once. It was a nightmare. 3 weeks of grinding, checking comparing measuring assembling breaking down cleaning. I will never do it again. All for a set of cylinders that maybe made more power, but ate rings like it was it's fucking job.
bigweav81
I've done a few now, and it improves gradually. It's just tinkering for me, and therapeutic for the first few hours, and then I'm thinking fuck this. I've talked to several that say 10-12 hours on a set.......I don't have that much to spare. So it takes months for me lol. No dyno available close to me, but I'm guessing I'm at least 35 horse power lmao. ClaudeMachining
I kept my stock cleaned one for that. I just have to buy the tool first then i'll try .

salmon_slayer06
call around. Most have cylinders already ported. Best way to go. Biggest expense imo, next would be pipes.
Toybreaker
My .02 on this is if you are just cheap... save some money and send em to an expert. If you like this shit like a bunch of us do.... read some, read some more, then read some more, then go on to YouTube. Mark and measure them several times before you fire up your grinder. I have a foredom I use http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/131201826214?lpid=82&chn=ps&ul_ref=http%253A%252F%252Frover.ebay.com%252Frover%252F1%252F711-117182-37290-0%252F2%253Fmtid%253D1588%2526kwid%253D1%2526crlp%253D166220085738_324272%2526itemid%253D131201826214%2526targetid%253D297009172954%2526rpc%253D0.25%2526rpc_upld_id%253D98082%2526device%253Dt%2526mpre%253Dhttp%25253A%25252F%25252Fwww.ebay.com%25252Fulk%25252Fitm%25252Flike%25252F131201826214%25253Flpid%25253D82%252526chn%25253Dps%2526adtype%253Dpla%2526googleloc%253D9002513%2526poi%253D%2526campaignid%253D718828727%2526adgroupid%253D36775856639%2526rlsatarget%253Dpla-297009172954%2526gclid%253DCJLdnZy8pNECFdSLswodBuwCxQ%2526srcrot%253D711-117182-37290-0%2526rvr_id%253D1147974313362&ul_noapp=true Lots of different tooling involved. Take into account the other machine tools in my hobby shop and I have more than the cost of a high end stock motor build in just tooling. Not the machines..... You like to tinker? Go for it...... SlowMoe
Just increasing transfer port and exhaust port timing and doing nothing else will get you a bunch of HP. If I were to do a DIY port I would use a 2mm spacer to raise the cylinder, take 2mm off the deck to compensate and do this to the exhaust port (raise it another 1-2mm at the highest point:
