Yada yada" I have been using the same rubber gasket and grommet (for stator wires) for a LONG time... Every time I pull the cover off I apply a thin bead of silicone on both mating sides and I havent had so much as a spec of surface rust on my flywheel Im not sayin the sytem isnt a good one but you can certainly seal it up to the point nothing is being drawn in thats for sure.
