rtcc Posted September 10, 2008 Report Share Posted September 10, 2008 I have been running the barnett for like three seasons now and Im sure it needs to be changed soon. I was looking around at the prices and I cant find them under a hundred bucks. Im just wondering if anyone has any real world experience running the dirt digger and then another clutch like say the tusk or F.A.S.T.'s clutch. Used the Tusk clutch for a couple of years without any trouble, but the F.A.S.T. clutch will be my next. Bottom line, I have heard from quite a few good sources that the F.A.S.T. clutches take a beating and keep on ticking. My $0.02 worth... I am running the Carbon Fiber Dirt Digger. I have had it a few years with no problems. The only think I dont like about it is it seem to make the transmission oil dirty pretty fast. Even when running Bel Ray Gear Saver. I have som Silkolen Comp Gear oil in there now and it seems to be staying a nice clear red color now. I installed one in my R about twelve years ago, and it just didn't feel as nice as the stock Honda clutch. A while later, I installed a new Honda clutch with (I believe) CR500 springs, and it works great. It was just a standard Dirt Digger, and I would be willing to bet the ones manufactured now are much better than the ones made 10-12 years ago. 2004LEBanshee Posted September 10, 2008 Report Share Posted September 10, 2008 I ran the TUSK for 2 years and it worked flawless. If I had a close to stock motor I would run it again. The only reason I changed to the FAST was because I turned my motor in to a ported 4 mill and thought maybe I would need it. For the money and if your only ported with a few bolt on's Id save the cash and get a tusk again. You can get like 2 for the price of the FAST. shanYE west Posted September 10, 2008 Report Share Posted September 10, 2008 Well.. I run Tusk kits in my drag bike and they hold. I dont use the Tusk springs though.. I use Toomey springs. I alternate between the FZR1000 fibers and Tusk Fibers because I buy the Tusk kit for the steels. So every other year is a full Tusk kit.. lol The only problem I had with the barnett was that when mine heated up.. it glazed the fibers.. I will probably just go with the TUSK then since I am on a budget and have to get ready for the next dune trip.
