Whats a lockup clutch?

Yep...

There are two basic styles.

One uses fingers that swing out from centrifugal force...the other uses ball bearings.

They both push against the pressure plate so the clutches don't slip.

The one with fingers is called the direct drive style, the other with ball bearings is called the slingshot type.

I've used both....

When you get into higher horsepower bikes and drag racing/serious duning, you'll need it to keep from smoking clutches.

Here is a pic of my direct drive lockup clutch. The fingers fling out and push on the pressure plate it adds more clamping foce than what the springs alone can do. You HAVE to run a modded cover or direct drives new die cast cover with this style of lockup. A non modded stock cover doesnt have enough clearance for the fingers.

The sling shot lock up can be run under a stock non moddified clutch cover.

There are two designs of the slingshot for a banshee. One can be run under a stock cover and it replaces your pressure plate as well.

The other (which I run) bolts over the top of your pressure plate just like the direct drive style, and still requires a lockup/modded cover.
