Hello everyone. I've been doing exensive mikuni reading and forum searching to get this far so I hope my question is specific enough to get some help.
Banshee never really idled correctly since I purchased it second hand. I just did the top end to one size larger than stock. I cannot get this thing to idle and have to use the outside slide screws to open the throttles past the pilot system. I have the carbs balanced at this point but lots of riding problems when doing this. There is no smooth power from launch. It's very hard to ride the trails going from "idle" to basically 1/2 throttle. Plus it's hell on the thumb to constantly be that far into the throttle and I want a proper running motor. Starts fine as-is with a couple kicks with the choke on. The engine immediately dies if the side throttle screws are backed out (I'm not sure what those screws are really for). The carbs are super clean, I have been through them about 6 times now completely apart with carb cleaner and compressed air. Adjusting the air screws does nothing for the idle if the slide screws are backed out, it dies if they are full in or full out. Engine bogs a little when snapping the throttle open but feels great past 1/2 throttle. I also checked the carb boots for any rips / leaks and just installed new reed valves.
So my question is: should I go smaller or larger pilot air jets? Or did I somehow mis-diagnose my problem? List of mods below, thanks a million for any suggestions from people who know these things.
