    I'm running 16/41 with second gear starts at the hillclimbs.You only have 20ft or less to be in powerband and have enough hookup to start the acend.

    Even mechanics plays a role in arm pump.The type of levers you're using, clutch springs,bars,grips.?Even riding posture on jumps and turns will pump you up. As you mentioned breathing regularly is a plus. If you are going to workout and condition your arms,high rep with light dumbells normal and reverse forearm curls.

    Three and four step climbs seperate the men from the boys.It's not how bad ass your bike is it's how good of a rider you are.I hope you have a blast. Your lucky you don't have to ride against those K&K assholes i have here in New England.

    Better yet, Take a few aspirin before the race.It will thin your blood enough so you won't get arm pump as bad.It works.
