  1. I tend to leave the size alone,but i usually chamfer the ports to create a smooth transition between the windows and pistons.It can be done with a few handfiles and takes about 20-30 minutes..Not sure if the gains are substantial but it should make for a better flow. here is a rough diagram,you can see how the piston ports are not opened up,they are just blended to the intake windows.
  2. Sounds like detonation to me, only thing that would shatter the plugs like that. looks like your getting just enough to wreck the plug. Maybe a combination of lean condition and bad alky?

  9. Again,crossover tubes are do exactly what they were designed for.Boost bottles will do the same for the weak minded,definitely not jedi status. Boost bottles are not surge tanks,their a cleverly thought out gimmick.For 25 bucks you can get a +4 degree key,unless your just looking for some bling,bling,then you've probably already wasted money on useless blings.
  10. Theres a trick to starting those open bikes.I could start my 500 with sandles on first kick everytime and it had 140 psi
  11. I ran into the same problem after I installed a upp slide kit.I could only run a 13/41 for about a month,thats when the chain would stretch beyond adjustment.So I jumped to a 13/42 which left me ample adjustment.The 13/42 was a good combo for 22's and trail.
  12. A friend of mine swears by them,but if you ask me,that chamber adjust ment system looks sloppy,not to mention the huge o-ring and keeping that sealed chamber sealed.

Never imagined someone would attempt that.With the exception of the needle or needle valve being severly worn down,I could not understand why you'd have to do that.Maybe with one new carb and one thats been in service since the inception of carburation it could be possible. Check your needle clip,check your carb sync and make sure your idle height is dam near the same for both slides.Then adjust air screws the same and fire it up with good plugs Providing the compression is close on each side ,the reeds are in good shape,and the crank seals are good.You should have 2 cylinders firing almost identically.That is,if its not electrical
  14. I run 290 main ,30 pilot,stock clip,1.25 turns out with same setup.
