  1. If you are going to be riding around Albuquerque, you could use 19cc or even 18cc domes with premium pump gas. If you are going to be riding at lower elevations, you could either change domes when you do or go with the dome size that fits the lower elevation.
  2. What all was done to the top end? Is your compression good?
  3. I trail ride with a bunch of 4-strokes. I never have to clutch. It does great on the trails and ,of course, pummels them in open areas.
  4. Dan at Patriot would be better for the alky domes. I have made some to other people's specs but am no expert on them.
  5. It's pretty difficult to make stroker domes out of pre-existing domes. If the squish band is cut out 2mm you will turn a 19cc dome in to something like a 13cc stroker dome. If the chamber is reworked to maintain the volume, the spark plug would be sticking down into the chamber unless you made it a flat-top chamber like an alky dome. Patriot racing makes stroker domes if you decide to buy some.
  6. How did you do? Do you know Fred R from Albuquerque?
  7. My first thought would be detonation. That doesn't sound like a 94 octane engine for running in NJ.
  8. I also ride mostly at Waynoka. I run 19cc domes, 110 octane, vforce reeds, fatty pipes, stock internals, and open airbox with K&N and Outerwear. I'm pretty happy with the performance and reliability. It's good for trails and dunes. I wouldn't advance the timing too much with that setup and the stock crank.
  9. It depends on your elevation, timing, porting, and type of fuel you want to run. No other modification is 'required' with the head but pipes and an airbox mod will help you get the most benefit.
  10. With the BHQ discount, a silver head and a set of domes is $240 shipped UPS Ground. If it is an anodized head, it's $247.50 with the discount. -David
  11. I would also recommend CNC equipment if it's in your budget. You can spend a ton of money on tooling to get a manual machine to do some of the stuff that a CNC machine will do without that tooling. Tapping heads, rotary tables, boring heads are examples. Not that you don't have to buy tooling for the CNC also. Auctions can be a good place to buy tooling. You can buy some small CNC equipment pretty cheap. Haas has a mini-mill in the 30K-40K range and a CNC toolroom lathe for around 20K without a turret.
  12. What kind of riding is at the two Indiana locations? Are there good RV sites? Good for dirt bikes, Banshees? Technical trails? Might be interested depending on when.
  13. An un-anodized base piece might look cool with a red-anodized top piece and cylinders.
  14. The anodizing shades do vary some from batch to batch and the way they clamp them during the process leaves some marks. I try to get them to clamp them in areas not visible but they don't always do it that way.
  15. Keep it for a paperweight. Your pictures showed what was wrong with it. Let me know how it runs with good domes when you get it back together. Thanks
  16. I did mail the decals...finally... Did I have a brain lock? I didn't remember you still having a leak. Getting old sucks but it's better than the alternative.
  17. You saw right through that. I don't know about 'forget' but hopefully forgive. I hate it when stuff doesn't work right, particularly on a riding trip. You could have been a jerk about this, understandably, but you weren't. I appreciate that. -David
  18. Yes, brake line holders (I didn't know what size a-arms you had) and a blockoff plate. I forgot the return tag. I quadruple checked the fit. -David
  19. The same thing happened to me yesterday.
  20. The only problem is the cost. The plating shop I use has a minimum charge per color of $60. If I have one head or five heads done it will be that price. There might be plating shops in your area that will do small jobs for less $$$. There is also some coating that people are discussing on the forum that you can apply yourself but I don't have any experience with it. -David
  21. SDD, Thanks for the comments. I feel really bad about the frustration this caused. It should never have gotton out of here that way. I can turn domes for the 7mm stroker. I usually charge $75 for 'custom' cut domes. They are $10 more because at least the 1st one usually goes in the scrap bin. If you want to give me the specs that you want, I'd be happy to make them. Justin, again, I'm sorry for the inconvenience, frustration, and irritation this has caused. -David
  22. In one of the pictures it looks like the dome stuck out too far and in another picture it looked the opposite. I like for the domes to protrude about .001-.002 because they will conform that much when torqued. I'll ship a base piece, a set of domes, and an oring set to you on Monday if that's okay. PM your address to me again so I'll make sure and get it right. I'll include a return UPS tag if you don't mind shipping the old parts back so I can try and figure out why they got messed up. Sorry for the trouble this has caused. -David
  23. Let me know what you need from me. I don't fully understand what was off but if the dome caused the problem, I'll certainly take care of it. Email, call, or PM me.
  24. I'm in Oklahoma also. If you ride at Little Sahara, 20cc domes are okay with premium pump gas. Some areas of Oklahoma are lower elevations. If you are going to be below 1000' you would need 21cc for premium pump gas. -David
