  1. I would say premium pump except for the +4 timing. It might be fine but I recommend on the cautious side. The price of av-gas at a nearby airport is $2.50 which isn't much higher than premium pump. Plus, av-gas takes years to go bad.
  2. I haven't heard yet, and it's almost my bedtime . I'm sure Lee will let us know pretty quick.

I'm guessing that you are looking for a used head. If not, BHQ members do get 10% off on new ones making a silver head and choice of domes $234 + shipping. -David
  5. Mod Quad is a fellow sponsor of BHQ so they have my respect. I'm just not familiar with their heads. The products by them that I have seen are top of the line.
  6. I don't know anything about the Mod Quad head and the one on Ebay probably comes with domes. With the BHQ discount, the Noss head is $175.50 without domes and $234 with domes + shipping. That for the silver color.
  7. At 800' with the timing advance more than 2 to 4 degrees you're probably going to be pushing it a little bit with premium pump gas but at 4000' you would be fine even with 19cc domes. If you didn't mind mixing, say, 20% race gas with 80% pump when you are riding at 800'. I'd get the 20cc domes.
  8. With advanced timing and 20cc domes you won't be able to run pump gas. A 50/50 mix or 100+ octane gas would be recommended. You would notice a substantial performance increase and improved throttle response. HP numbers aren't something I'm good at predicting.
  9. What all did you do to it when rebuilding?
  10. I don't think they will work. Don't the vitos domes have two notches in them?
  11. Actually, my chart is on the high side. I will probably change it. I've left it that way to stay on the safe side and get people to ask in case there are other factors like timing and stuff.
  12. You will need 21cc at sea level with premium pump. You will still feel a substantial increase in power and throttle response.
  13. Your compression doesn't sound too bad considering your elevation. It looks like Salt Lake City averages around 4300' and higher in surrounding areas. The next smaller domes would raise your compression to the point on needing race gas. Also, if you take a trip to a lower elevation, you will need race gas with the domes you have. Give me a call if you want to discuss other domes.
  14. Unless you are at a pretty high elevation, you will probably need race gas with either size. What is your elevation and other mods?
  15. If you are always going to be above 1000' and you don't advance your timing you should be okay with 20cc domes running premium pump gas.
  16. Unless I'm not thinking of something I think that's what you will need to do. You could call Dan at Patriot and see if he is making ADA style domes. Does ADA sell dome blanks?
  17. Maule has some cool short field planes. I'd take one...
  18. Are there any other pilots on BHQ? What do you fly? Owner/Renter? Hours? I've been a pilot since 1989 but have flown just enough to stay current in the past 4 or 5 years. I've been having some extensive (expensive) work done on my plane, a Cessna 182, and it should finally be flying again in a couple of weeks. I was just curious if there were any other people flying except on their Banshees.
  19. I think it's going to be tough to modify those and maintain a reasonable combustion chamber without the spark plug hanging way down inside the dome. Have you called the manufacturer? You could build it with a base spacer.
  20. Those don't look like stroker domes. Are you asking if they can be modified into stroker domes?
  21. Hmmm, my opinion would be..... Anyway, the domes are going to depend on what gas you want to run and other mods. I'm in Oklahoma also. Most places here you can run 20cc domes with premium pump gas. The Pro Design does require longer studs which can be installed by double-nutting the old ones out and the new ones in. Not a real big hassle but if you have the choice....... In OKC, you could get it the next day on UPS. I'm out of blue heads for about two weeks. -David
  22. Also, the part of the guage that screws into the dome needs to be the same length as the spark plug threads. If it's just a short stub that screws into the spark plug hole it will give a false low reading. You didn't leave the head gasket on did you? It wouldn't make that much difference in compression but it's not something you want to do. If the head wasn't sealing properly, you would probably have other symptoms like leaks, white exhaust, not running good, etc. Give me a call it you want. I doubt you will have 170 - 180 in Salt Lake but it should be more than 120. -David
  23. 18cc should be okay at that elevation but I would check it when you get it back together and make sure it's not too high for pump.
  24. I would rather run the straight 104 if it were me. No hassle of carrying two fuels and the higher overall quality of race gas unpolluted by low quality, unstable pump gas. (I doubt I'm the only one who has left pump gas in something too long and had to clean up the results. )
