That was the original reason for the Cool Head years ago. Using Engine Ice would probably help. I'd check the other stuff just to make sure you don't have a problem.
Mine did that every time I rode it until I put an aftermarket head on it...It was a Noss Head by the way....
If it's as hot where you are as it has been lately in Oklahoma, it's not that unusual. Check the coolant level, radiator cap, and make sure the coolant is flowing well. Jetting can also cause it to run hot but it's usually fatter in the summer.
I don't advertise the stroker domes but I should add them to the web site. They tend to be 'custom' so I don't keep many on the shelf. I also make 68mm domes, Blaster piston domes, a variety of Cub domes, and 'spec' domes where a builder gives me the specs they want.
That's a pretty impressive list. I'd recommend talking to some builders like:
Jim at Passion Racing
Dan at Patriot Racing
Nate at Mccoys
Cameron at Redline Racing
Andy at Grand River Racing
Jason at Rocket Factory
I can get numbers for any of these if you dont find them. All build Cub motors if that's what you want. All of them build fast stuff and are very 'technical' builders who know what works for your type of riding.
The regular domes will work up to .080 over. If it gets bigger than that, like the 68mm or if you use Blaster pistons, the domes will be different but I have them and/or make them how you need them.

I'd recommend 'chem dip' where you soak the disassembled carb pieces. Soak them good, rinse everything, then make sure and shoot aerosol carb cleaner through every hole to make sure all passages are clear. Twisty-tie wire after you strip the paper off is pretty good for clearing clogged jets and passages.
I'd take a gas jug with you.
I admit I usually recommend on the conservative or safe side but you could buy several hundred gallons of race or av gas for what it would cost if you trashed an engine because of detonation.
You should be able to get 100LL Av-gas at about any small airport. It will keep for years without going sour and getting gummy. I paid $2.65/gallon for some a couple weeks ago but it's pretty cheap around here. I paid $3.00 a couple months ago when I flew to Tunica, MS, but that was at a ritzy airport in a gambling town.
I'd try to get the octane up to at least 93 octane since the timing is advanced in addition to the 21cc domes. I would also prefer a race gas or av-gas mixture to raise the octane instead of octane booster,,,,10% - 20%
I agree. At 950' and above you should be fine with 20cc domes and premium pump gas. You might list your other mods to be sure that doesn't change the answer.

I just answered your email. Sorry, it scrolled off the screen. A anodized head with domes is $247.50 + shipping with the BHQ discount. Clutch covers are $25
Thanks,
David
New or used? I have new ones and one used one. With the BHQ discount, the new silver ones with domes are $243 + shipping. I'd sell the used one for $200 + shipping with a new set of domes.
one goes on the bottom of each dome
two go between the cylinder and the bottom piece of the head
one goes between the bottom and top piece of the head
one goes over each stud between the bottom and top piece
two go up inside the head where the domes fit thru the top piece
This is if it is a Pro Design or a Noss head. I don't know about other brands.
At that elevation, it should be around 110psi. Make sure the compression tester threads into the head the same amount as the spark plug. That can change the reading by 10 to 20 psi. Squirt a little oil in the spark plug hole and check it again. It will increase some but if it increases a lot, like 20 - 30 psi, it's probably top-end time.
An aftermarket head or shaving the head can help offset the lost compression of the higher elevation.
Yea, your compression is a little low for that elevation. Make sure the compression checker threads down into the head the same amount as the spark plug does. I wouldn't worry a lot about the drop when it's warm. You might squirt some oil into the cylinder and see if the compression goes up much which would indicate that the rings are, indeed, leaking.
Low on freon will cause that. I'm no HVAC expert but if the low side needs to be above freezing on the guage. Often there is a table on the inside of the cover or on the condenser by the valves.
You might be fine with 93 octane. I would check the compression to be sure. If it's over 160, mix some race gas or av-gas. At 20% to 50% race or av-gas isn't too expensive.
You can find them at Noss Machine Web Site
With the BHQ member discount, silver heads with domes are $234.00 + shipping, anodized colors with domes are $247.50 + shipping.
It will work fine with your other mods.
