Mods to make shee faster but fairly cheap
Time Machine replied to Ronaldkrause's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I get it. You said you wanted to go "faster", but that's not what you wanted, you just want more power. Big difference. But that's fine, it's your Banshee and your money, do what you want. As long as you're just cruising the dunes by yourself, or riding with other guys on stock Banshees, you'll do fine. But if you start riding the dunes with riders on better machines you'll soon start thinking about suspension. You'll have tons of power, you just won't be able to use it all. Any way you go, at least you're on a Banshee. Enjoy! What dunes do you ride? -
Good to know, thanks. I have a friend who said I could have his if he cuts them off, but I figured we might as well give JDS a chance to make some up, I'm sure there are others who might need some.

Mods to make shee faster but fairly cheap
Time Machine replied to Ronaldkrause's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I'm still new to Banshees so I don't have all the answers, but I've learned a ton here, so, take your time and read before you start throwing money at it. Done a leak down test yet? I like r.r.l.'s FYI on suspension. Build a good foundation first, then focus on more power. -
Cool, thanks! Put a hole(s) in the base so they can be bolted on, then they could be chromed or pc'ed.

How about some stock headlight brackets? The '01 I just bought are shaved off. I have the original headlights, just need brackets.

FREE NEAR NEW BANGSHEE TIRES.... SALEM OR
Time Machine replied to n2otoofast4u's topic in For Sale - Parts & Accessories
No good deed goes unpunished. Decent offer, too bad nobody local needed them. -
Looks cool. I'm convinced. I'll be ordering one from you before the riding season begins. But the handle bar mount looks like a better option to me. And yes, iPhones take pretty decent video. Download the iMovie app to your computer to edit. Simple.

Yeah, thanks, I saw that, wondering how well they work, stay on? fall off? fall apart?

Anyone have any experience with these? http://www.rammount.com/activity/atv_mounts

I like to carry a lot of junk wherever I go, so an underseat box sounds good to me. It wouldn't even need a top, just a place to put a stuff sack. It would have to be easy to remove. A 50 cal ammo can will fit in the space, not saying to use one, just thinking out loud.

Scam: 2006 Banshee for Sale on Craigslist
Time Machine replied to Time Machine's topic in General Banshee Discussion
That's the one. -
It's listed on the Pocono, PA craigslist for $2000; it's also listed on the Eastern Idaho craigslist for $2020. Both ads placed within past 24 hours, misspelled words, no location given. Anyone see it anywhere else?

There's two good reasons for making sure it's legal before you pay any $$$. Protects you and avoids supporting the creeps who are stealing our stuff.

Wheels size so the banshee fits in my toy hauler
Time Machine replied to SoonerFanAZ's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Great looking Banshee! "Rubs the cabinets". So it fits, just a little snug. Get a set of rear wheels without tires on for transport. Take off the rack during transport. Use some rope to tie up exhausts. -
Can anybody tell me what year this Banshee is?
Time Machine replied to JimJones's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Find someone with a vinyl cutter, like a Silhouette Cameo, check hobby stores, they're popular with hobbyists and teachers. They should be able to cut the YAMAHA letters and get pretty close to the original font. The TWIN and 350 might have to be done in two pieces. You could position them next to each other. Might not look exactly like original, but it will be close and won't cost much. They might even be able to import the exact images into the software. -

Wtf broke my bleeder screw off clean!
Time Machine replied to freshsbanshee's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I work on a lot of old stuff. I've found this works well. It has worked for me when nothing else did. Since it works by freezing I'm careful using it on cast parts. http://www.amazon.com/CRC-05002-Freeze-Off-Super-Penetrant/dp/B000TFTH00 -
Off with the old, on with the new
Time Machine replied to Time Machine's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Timing plate is on, +4, along with new chain and sprockets. Took it for a few laps around the neighborhood and it felt strong but haven't gotten out to the dunes. Supposed to get a foot of snow today and tomorrow. Dunes close end of month so I may be done until spring. Got two old Jeeps waiting for their turn in the garage so I'll probably start working on them. Here's our '53 M38A1 at one of my favorite spots along the Fall River just outside YNP. -
BLM developing "management plan" for St. Anthony Dunes
Time Machine replied to Time Machine's topic in Sand Forum
. I think Finch is right. State would sell dunes to developer, then there'd be a fence around them. Riders need to get involved and keep working with BLM. -
The St. Anthony Dunes are managed by the BLM. The Idaho Falls office, under the direction of Shannon Bassista, is gathering input in preparation for developing a management plan for the St. Anthony Dunes. They are using an online survey as one means of gathering data. After taking the survey, some of us are concerned about the direction this plan may take. There are questions on guide services, increasing commercialization, limiting access and increasing non-motorized activities to name a few. It sounds like higher costs and more regulation. Here's the link to a BLM article that includes the survey link. The survey will be up until December 18. Take it if you'd like. Let them know how you feel. But, in the immortal words of Dalton, "Be Nice". Give them good explanations for why you feel the way you do. After the survey is completed there will probably be some public meetings. Then the data will be studied and a plan developed, probably within the next year. We're hoping to get some local folks involved in that process. http://www.blm.gov/id/st/en/prog/nepa_register/st_anthony_sand_dunes.html

I keep learning. Borrowed a leak down tester a couple weeks ago and the engine failed. Lost 1 1/2 pounds a minute. Decided to make my own tester and try it again. Tested it this morning and it passed. Held 6 pounds for over 5 minutes, needle didn't budge. I used a bunch of Windex on that first test, including on the tester, didnt see any leaks on it. One thing I did differently this time was to really clean up the exhausts before I put the caps on. I checked them on the first test, but it's hard to see well up there, so I'm wondering if that's what I missed. Anyhow, after doing some reading here I decided to use a fuel pressure gauge for the tester. I bought this Mr. Gasket, #1561, for $18 at O'reilleys.

Should I buy this bike. Seriously
Time Machine replied to JasonB's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Sounds like a nice one! Sure you'll spend more in the long run, but you'll get to put it together the way you want it. Working on them is half the fun. -
Yes, stock rear end Outside edge of tire to outside edge of tire: Front = 48 Rear = 46
