ac pro peg nerfs, domes, billet, etc...
tfaith08 replied to Abe's topic in For Sale - Parts & Accessories
Good seller. I may buy some more stuff... -
I need these... The wife doesn't think so. Any random stuff you'd like to trade for?
-
Thanks for pointing that out.

Dug my old ebay records up from a few years back. Dude sent me a used chain roller in a new box back in 2012.
-
Can't go too wrong with this: Got any free parts whatsoever?
-
I know he was busy with the winter. I had the money ready to go to him, but he never had the time to call me back, so I went with suspension. He's going to get my business because his work has me convinced.

70-75 is what Cam was estimating mine would be at with T5s, 4mil, his dune port, and custom domes. Am I missing something or does no other HJR engine make those numbers? My second option would have been HJR or FAST, so I'm curious now.
-
I personally hate him because I tried to start a porting discussion as my first post and he started being a douchebag off the bat. Lots of twisted logic and word twisting (2 things I absolutely cannot stand).
-
Most times, yes. I know that Redline advertises that they do a ported stocker to ported 4mil.
-
Send it to a site sponsor and tell them your goals. They'll make you more than happy. FWIW, 4mil serval is very likely going to be my next engine.
-
If they hold up, I may do this. It looks sick to me.

Yamaha Banshee Tires for Field/Gravel/Grass
tfaith08 replied to Spiner's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
My duro hookups are awesome on everything that I've ridden them on. Not sure about sand yet, but they're petty sticky otherwise. Wet grass isn't a problem, even with +6psi -
Let me explain something to you, you little fuck. I did go into building for a profession. I'd been doing the work on the side for years and still do. I learned by trial and error, not going on a forum and pestering everyone into telling you what they learned. I didn't quit because of my incompetence, I quit because I was robbed of nearly all my tools and had to find a job to support my family. So yeah, I went into porting as a profession. I went full steam into something that you can barely carry on a conversation about, something that you are so incompetent at that you refuse to so much as leave one shred of evidence as to who you really are. Furthermore, I didn't give you the general respect that I give everyone because you asked for it. Contrarily, you basically attempted to insult me (much like you only ever attempt to do anything) in response to me stating that you knew something. This doesn't, however, surprise me nor does it upset me. It doesn't because you are too damn stupid to recognize a compliment, you lack technical skill, and you lack empathy (which is the worst of things). If I may (and I will), you lack empathy in the way that only those who have had a cake-walk of a life do. You have never had to fight for a damn thing in your life and you sure aren't about to start fighting to even learn something. This matters to me because you attempted (there's that word again) to take a jab at the longevity of my time as a builder when you had no consideration as to what actually happened. It was so clear of a choice for me to quit and support my family that only a complete fucking idiot wouldn't understand, and since I'm having to explain this to you, you're petty much a complete fucking idiot in my book. How about you take that welfare check and go buy a set of ported cylinders? We all know that you'd never actually attempt (heh, attempt) to port a set because you're too big of a piece of shit to do a god damned thing. So mother-fuck you, you sorry piece of shit.

One of a few things is going to happen. 1. You learn that you lack a shit load of information and come around to being a reasonable member. *Your streak of douchebaggery is never fully gone - it appears from time to time (Zilla) 2. You leave for a few months and come back with a new attitude (me) 3. You create another account with a user name that is nowhere similar to the current one. You then argue with yourself to make your "new you" look awesome (will likely be regurgitated from other members) and eventually delete your RU account. Everyone else thinks 2 members are arguing. (KOR) 4. You keep making asinine statements and lose all credibility - your correct statements will be assumed to be incorrect. You understand that your reputation has gotten this bad, so you try to mend things. This falls through and you leave the forum out of frustration. (Thacker) It doesn't matter to me, I'm through going out of my way to be nice to you.

When I said that you have some knowledge floating around, I meant that you had some knowledge. In this instance, I'm referring to you. Don't take offense. Also, the "facts" that you refer to are questioned heavily on a regular basis. I've experimented with the shapes. I've stated this before. The V shape will give you a little more power at peak and above and the rounded shape will give you a bit more power around and just below peak. You will not notice, I can assure you. Also, people tend to try what everyone else does because why in the hell would you not build off of other people's knowledge? You can line up the 5 configurations that K&T went through before they settled on their current one and I'd wager that 90% of people won't detect more than 1-2 things different between them. The difference are often pretty small with 2-strokes. Major differences commonly go undetected. You've obviously never ported a great number of cylinders because you'd know that you'll never really pick apart someone else's port work until you've been through a mega-shit-ton of trial and error. You can pick some knowledge up, but you'll never, EVER see the forest for the trees. At one point, I knew everything there was to know about porting. That was before I started porting. I didn't know that there were still questions to ask, nor did I know what they were. I began to question everything that I'd learned and I'm confident with what I know now. Am I gonna call out Cam or Jeff? No. Am I gonna discuss porting? Yes. I'll leave you with this: Forums are for discussion. Blogs are for telling people what's on your mind. If you don't want to have something you bring up thrown into immediate question, go start a blog.

Then again, Zilla kind of has it coming most times. See my sig? Zilla started being a complete douche on my first post here. I used one of his gems from that thread.
-
That's what this is directed towards. Registered User, don't think that I'm ganging up on you, but they're right. You have some knowledge floating around, but you convey it in a commanding way. It would be much more beneficial to your end (and potentially ours and everyone else's) if you'd remain open minded. Take what you know and use it to uncover what you don't know. Very few things are factual when you talk about port shapes.
-
No need to have done anything at all before you begin to wrap your head around theory. I know there were times between builds when I was just dying to talk about porting and I didn't have a soul around. My vote is to give respect to the sake of the topic (RU, you aren't helping by screwing with Zilla). I'm with Cam on this one. Your main goal should be to feed the transfers in whatever way possible. If the V design helps, go for it. I personally think that bore and stroke have a lot to do with it. A V shape is pretty useless when you have a bore that's knocking on 90mm or so, especially when you have boyesens. That charge is very unlikely to see an uninterrupted path to the transfers from the intake windows with the piston flying upwards. A 50mm bore would be a little different IMO. Then again, I'm with sprinkle. I've never been able to detect a difference on the ass-dyno. The bunches of little gems that result in another 5hp in the end will never be discovered without a dyno. IMO, feed the middle of the crankcase and try to avoid a low pressure spot behind the sleeve so that the charge doesn't try to revert and fill that spot. D shape ftw. As for the steeply angled boost port, I'd stick with that the angle because a significant amount of time is spent trying to get the charge up and over the piston. That design is meant to force the charge upward. I DO NOT think that it needs a sharp divier or transition. It should be smooth.

Getting a banshee. is set up wrong for trails?
tfaith08 replied to lllllBonlllll's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Duro Hookups. They grip when you need them to and are really predictable when they start to break loose. They add to the roll a bit because they have so much traction, but the predictability more than makes up for it. I suspect that I'll have to get some custom domes and some VF4s to allow it to break away under throttle like I'm used to. I like how it's geared now so I'll probably stick with the 15t front for now. I went with Stage 3 elka triples with rebound adjustment front and rear and Lonestar LTs. I had Works triples w/ res up front and they were great but I saw where they were limited after a few months. As far as brakes, I'm still looking for a YFZ setup. -

tfaith08 replied to lllllBonlllll's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Mine has T5s, 21cc domes, +4 timing, and Pro Flow w/ Uni and no lid. On a 15t front sprocket, most would argue that mine isn't set up for the trails. I do very well on it. You need to ride it and determine what you need more of. We can make general recommendations, but you're the one who has to ride it all the time. If we tell you that the CPIs aren't going to do well and you get out there and think that your engine isn't what's slowing you down but rather your suspension, would you switch to PCs or FMFs? I wouldn't. I was riding on my track a while back and was trying to cut the lap times. The fastest lap time that I've ever turned was a 1:06 and I was trying to get it down even more. My issues were these: Section 1: improve brakes, increase front grip Section 2: reduce roll, increase rear grip Section 3: improve brakes Section 4: increase rear stability Section 5: reduce roll From that, would it have been wise to spend $1800 on a ported 4mil or a bit more on a great suspension setup and some good tires? The specifics don't lie. BUT, if I told everyone that I had a set of T5s and 15t front sprocket running in 1st gear trails, I wouldn't have gotten responses that were going to make me much faster, would I? You have to put it through the ringer and find a place to ride where you can learn it and push it more and more until you find the limits of what you have. -
Not lying on price. That's a damn steal. I'd pick it up if I had the money.

Plugs the same color? Leak tested? Slides at same height?
