I honestly would do a cool head before carbs. Stock carbs will flow enough air for something like 70hp. Depending on what type of riding your doing, change your front sproket down a size, or if your not in mud, change the air box to pods.

I would at least sand blast and spray paint the frame. I don't care if its a mock up setup or not, perception and branding matters to the alot of people.

This setup sounds exactly like my old 7 mill, except I ran 35 pwks. I even ran 20x10x10 10 paddles on it for 1 trip. On the dunes in Oregon, it wasn't near enough tire. Hate to say it, but the 22x11s are what I went with, and loved.

Yes, I've played with the rear suspension, gearing and tires. Biggest help was going from a 12 paddle to a 9 paddle, and taking some gear out of it. If you can put 120+rwhp down to the ground (with minimal tire spin) the front end will lift with shorter swing arms.

Lol, I'm running a super cub on a +8, and can't keep the front end down in 3rd but I'm only 165lbs or so. My older brother is a also running a super cub, and is 240lbs or so, and is running a +10 and he can keep it down for the most part. If you can get decent traction, a +2 or +4 will be interesting for sure...

Far from an over the top build, but I'm probably into my 521 super cub build, in the 15k-18k neighborhood. I don't remember exact numbers, but I'm in the 125rwhp range. Honestly, compared to a couple of my friends, my build is pretty cheap. I wouldn't doubt if some of my friends are 25k deep into their duners. Chrome and polished metal gets expensive fast. Drag builds can be stupid expensive.

You need to tell Cam your goals. Like I've posted before, He's a bit fruity, but knows his stuff about building a motor.

I'm a bit more conservative. Probably idle for a minute, then taking it easy until there a decent amount of heat in the radiator. I don't ride it hard until its upto operating temp.

Larger sized tire will have more surface area, and won't want to dig down too. Since your a bit heavier than me, you probably could run more paddle and keep the front end down. I'm running a 22x11x8, 9 paddle on my 521, but thats in an attempt to keep the front end down. BTW, what size of swing arm are you running? That'll play a large factor in the sand.

If your into drifting, trail riding and just general duning a 20x10x10, 9 paddle extreme will work much better than the V paddles. But if you want to be doing the tree shots by the water, or drag racing I would suggest a 22x11x8, 8 or 9 paddle extreme. Preferably a bead to bead buff (the tire is ground down to eliminate weight.) But you're going to be spending some coin on them. I don't know what your budget is, but if this is a one time dune trip, I would say go with a used set of 20x10x10s. For fronts your dirt tires will work. Gearing will have to do with what type of riding you'll be doing. As long as your not running a ton of gear, it'll probably work.
