  1. If your not going through water or letting it sit in the rain, you may just have a bad cable. I never had a problem with stock carbs unless I was in water. I'd try a new cable or lube it first.
  2. Thanks needs to go to rzcolobanshee. He's the one who set the chat up a long time ago. I just thought I'd post it so more people knew about it!!
  3. Here's my guess. Needle on the fatties, at least mine before the stroker was on the fouth from the bottom. That's one lean. that much
  4. http://web.webchat.org/?theme=webchat&@channel=bansheehq That's the link. Even if nothings going on at the time you go.. .stay logged in so we know it's getting used. Here is one piece of instruction you will need to follow. After the you've accepted the pop up (if you get one) and the window is open you have to click on #bansheehq just below the area you type your messges. Nothing will happen but keep following these instructions. Click #bansheehq Then type your username in the area you would type your message Then hit enter. That's it. Your nickname will pop up instead of guest and you're set to chat. It does get slow, but if you're online, just stayed in the chat room and you'll be able to see whatever has been talked about.
  5. Some of those kind of overlap if that makes since. I still say 320 - 340. Drop a 340 in there and try it. Drop the needle one if the 340 helps and see how that works. If you don't like the needle dropped, raise it back up.
  6. What makes you say that. What did he have?
  7. I have to say, I seen a 450 run like hell in a sand drag at silver lake. You can ask minkia3838 about this one. He was running hi rz shee that had been jetted on a dyno. That damn 450 irratated him all day. That thing was a rocket ship. I don't have a clue what he had done to it though. My chin hit the sand. I think Ray even was a little shitty... lol. He was very close to a 100hp banshee on alcohol. I mean the banshee won, but that thing was hanging in there. He smoked my ass on a mild ported shee. I'm not a skinny guy though and that was my first time on sand. It appeared stock. Maybe the guy was just an amazing rider.. I don't know. There was another 450 there that was getting smoked by banshees. Hell, who knows. You'll start seeing more mods for these. The banshee has been around a long time and people have had a lot of time to learn these engines. Just wait til these really good engine builders are forced to work on 4 strokes. Were gonna see some good stuff one day.
  8. Spark plug wires are made with resistance. They will not dead short. In an auto class I took one time, it was about 1000ohms per foot. That was about 10yrs ago though. But, I'm pretty sure they will not dead short.
  9. 60hp for less than 6000. Damn, I bet you could get 110hp for that dough. It sounds like you want low down torque. Wheelies and mx. At the same time you like dunes. If you play at the dunes.... low torque is great. If you want to drag at the dunes... ie.. you want cpi out of frame pipes, you'll need two bansee's or a banshee for drags and dunes and a 400ex for mx and dunes.. lol.
  10. Then use the adjuster on the carb tops to sync them and the idle screws on the side for the idle.... that's it. Same principle
  11. A stroker will get you off the line faster for sure. Sounds like it's kind of tight too. Might do you some good. A cheaper solution might be to get some pipes with more torque to them. Pt mids are a great pipe. I'd say pt pipe are a possibility, but defenitly compression and race mix or straight race fuel. I'd start there for the $$ it's gonna cost for a stroker.
  12. Here's my guess. Needle on the fatties, at least mine before the stroker was on the fouth from the bottom. That's one lean.
  13. to sync the carbs just take the air filter off. Look into the airbox and you'll see the slides. When you push the throttle ( engine off) you will see the slides raise. They should raise at the exact same time. If the do not, adjust the screw on one of the carbs. It's the screw on the big box that's on the carbs. Once you have them lifting exactly at the same time, they are synced. Now, if the idle is to high or low.. use the same screws and turn them the exact same amount... this is just to set the idle. If you turn them the same amount, the carbs stay synced. Spoin covered the rest.
  14. http://www.jlatvproducts.com/ I called james lucky atv one time and they said they have them in stock. Look them up on google... Actually I will... here's the phone number.. 1-800-233-2637. I posted it for someone looking just about a week ago. They have a huge catalog online but I don't think the sprocket sizes are listed properly... if I remember right.
  15. I have fatty's, k&n filter, open airbox, 28mm carbs, 4mil stroker with 130lbs compression. I'm on 390's at 6 deg and that's a bit rich. Just sounds rich to me. Maybe he needs to work with the needle a little bit too.
  16. Right... if he wants the same as a 17 / 40 setup.. and he wants a 16... he would need a 16 / 37 or 38. That's smaller than 40.
  17. I bet you are to rich.... even at 35 deg. Hell even with the cut lid I bet you don't need anything over a 320 - 340 at 35 deg. Depending how cut the lid is.
  18. Just divide to get your answer. 17/40 witch would actually be 40 divided by 17 ... 2.35 which is the gear ration your after x / 16 = 2.35 .... x = 37.6 so, if you want to go a little higher then go 37 and 16. If you want to go a touch lower go 38 and 16. Hope that helped... lol As you can see ... sdd's method is easier... lmao
  19. Sounds to me your main may not be right yet. What jetting did you end at. I know jetting is throttle positon, but a lot of people notice the main if 5th or 6th because of the added resistance.
  20. It's a spacer for the front tank bolts. You know, the bolts that actually hold the tank on. It's on there so you can tighten the bolt all the way and not break the hole the screw goes through.
