  1. You run larger pilot to, don't you Rod?? Actually, for me at my elevation I used a stock 25 pilot. But, every machine is different.
  2. Exactly, a ratio is a ratio. You won't have any trouble if you are using the same units for measuring.
  3. I figured it was something holding the slides up. Now go on ebay and you can buy tors tops really cheap. Your other option would be to by the tors removal kit and it will replace the old cable and tors.
  4. This is why I think you should just unhook the cable from the slides. This will give you a starting point if the trouble is before or in the carbs. You main jet isn't going to make it rev like that. If it fell out it will run bad, but not rev to the moon. It sounds like you knew that though. Somethings not letting the slide sit all the way down. You said it looks like there is 5-6mm spacing in there. Is that on both or one?
  5. It's kind of hard to diagnose using a keyboard . Why not put it back the way it was and start there.
  6. Wow, your making this tough. Unhook the throttle cable so there is not tension to the slide in the carb. You can unhook it from the tors or the carb slides themselves. I'd suggest the carb slides. So, you will drop the carb slides in without a cable, but keep the springs in there. If it still idles high, the trouble is in the carb. If not, you need to diagnois the cable or tors boxes. Make it a step by step process. I still think you have the cable hung up somewhere or tight somewhere.
  7. Unhook the cables and see how it runs. That will help you decided if it's the cable or the carbs.
  8. Uh oh Guess your gonna have to use some jb weld or get some new carbs. Actually, since you probably alread tapped them, you could get a short screw and loc-tite it in place. The loc-tite will make a seal and keep the screw from backing out. You should have drilled and tapped the hole that has a slang on it... on the outside of the carb. Then you have to file the slant flat. Actually, file it down a little extra so the idle screws will go in far enough. Good Luck
  9. This will be interesting being that the Rocket pipes were derived from the GRR pipe. I won't go into to much detail, but I'll be watching this thread
  10. Do you know if they crack down on drinking at the campsites. I understand people not drinking and riding... but to sit around the fire without a beer just doesn't make since to me Oh, Ray, here is the website for the badlands. The prices are there http://www.badlandsoffroad.com/
  11. Just get some virus software. You can delete it yourself and you'll be fine. If you have xp, you can go back to a previous registry.
  12. If you have pipes, I would definetly use one. If not I wouldn't think it would do much good.... but it might.
  13. That's what you need to do to test the tors. It will not limit the cdi if it's unplugged.
  14. No problem. I not sure who made that site, but I reference it everytime somebody ask about the coolant bottle. Mines always full since I moved it.
  15. well if you're having easter early, then you can ride on easter, right. Me and the girlfriend will be there. They do an egg hunt where you find eggs with numbers on them and turn them in for parts and stuff. oh yeah, I was there last sunday too. I blew my sidewall of my front tire after the first 10 minutes of riding, bought a set of tires from the badlands store, and spent most of the day trying to find a place that could break the beads for me. I ended up plugging it and riding for 2 hours . Sorry, but nope. The kids still think the easter bunny is coming....or... I might be able to run down after that..... I'll have to see. What time does the fun start down there. Ray, it's 700 -800 acres of everything... sand, mx jumps, hill, muddy woods, not muddy woods... everything. You have to try it at least once. They do close up at 5 I think.
  16. toomey doesn't make a 2 into 1 filter for the 35mm.... I was going to do that myself.
  17. I was hopeing for the 4th, but we are having the family easter a weekend early.... damnit.
  18. My fatties always liked to be leaner on the mid. 1 down on the needle for me with stock carbs.
  19. There are a lot of great builders out there. grand river racing, passion, mp racing.... in no particular order. I'm not sure about passion and pure drag racing motors... I"m sure he can fill you in. Doesn't sound like you want 100% drag motor anyway.
  20. Check the throttle cable at the y ... sometimes I pull the cables slightly out of the y where they connect and it'll do just that !!
  21. Move the bottle up front. Heres the instructions http://kuoi.asui.uidaho.edu/~john/tips.html why keep the bottle in the back when it just siphons itself empty. If you get rid of it, you'll notice the rad will get low if you ride it really hard. Move it up front !!
  22. If you hit any water you will appreciate new carbs. Don't go any bigger than the 28mm for a fairly stock motor.
  23. I'm gonna do what I can !!!!!!
  24. Keihn 34pj's, Keihn 35pwk's or Mikuni 34mm. If you tried a 2 into 1 with a 4mm and didn't like the bottom end, then you should go with one of the carbs above. The Keihns are easy to jet but the Mikuni's may tune in a little faster.
