  1. Okay, a couple things I noticed about what you noticed. If you had to take a link out of the chain, it may be time to replace it. If it stretched that far, it may be about ready to break. I'd hate to see you crack a case right off the bat. The brakes on the banshee need to be bleed very well before they start to work. Maybe you'll be lucky and find out that's all it needs. The left side cover doesn't contain oil. If it's dripping then it's probably the seal that goes in the case for the front sprocket. You may want to look into that before buying a gasket. As far as pipes go, there's a hundred people that would trade you stockers for aftermarket. Your best bet is to buy some stockers on ebay and sell yours. You'll come out ahead that way. I understand what you mean about wanting a quiet quad. Maybe you could keep one stock and fix one up to rip people up on. Just a thought. Welcome to bhq and have fun. I really am not trying to be a smartass by noticing some of these things. Just trying to help out.
  2. I'm not sure y you would need to take off the chain. What are you thinking might happen if you don't take the chain off. And, what are you removing.
  3. This is the case when you have a motor that doesn't pull enough fuel in. If you had a stroker, you'd gain bottom and top with 35mm. It's been done on the dyno. That why sredish said "don't worry about carbs until you get into a stroker or really agressive porting. dynos have shown that the stock carbs can outperform larger carbs overall and with your mild port, I'd wait." I totally agree with the porting. You can get so much power out of a standard 350 crank with porting... it's insane. You... in theory... should be able to get even more out of a stroker, but it all depends on the builder. The reason they are saying you may not be able to use those cylinders for the stroker is because some builders take a lot from the transfers and those can't be used on a stroker. So builders don't take much out though.
  4. I bumped my compression with a noss head and I just can't believe the difference. I was shocked. It's snappy and powerful. I think I need to gear it up. You can get your flywheel lightened too. It won't give you more power, but it will make is "snappier". It goes on the throttle faster and comes off it faster. If you just want to mill the head you can send both the head and the flywheel to Boonman. He'll hook you up. You can advace the timing a few ways. You can just cust the mounting holes in the stator plate 4.5mm to advance it about 4 degrees. You can buy and adjustable stator plate from ricky stator for $35 or you can get a cut indexing key for the flywheel for around $25. I personnally think the best bet is to go to www.rickystator.com and get an adjustable plate.
  5. No damage will happen to the other coil. That's the best route. I've tested two coils and they never to read like the clymers manual says they should when going through the spark plug wire to the leads.
  6. I don't know what kind of porting JKJK got, but I can say that Dan Hull does build some mean ass machines. His I'm worried about
  7. You already have a k&n. I don't think adding the pods would change much as far as power goes. Have you milled the head or advanced the timing yet. These are cheap mods that really work.
  8. It will run a little hotter with higher compression and advanced timing. If it does seem to be a little lean after running it jet up. It may have been lean before but more noticable now since you have added more heat.
  9. If it's an agressive port job I'd start right where sredish said. Maybe even a 390. I've had to run 390's on a ported 350 before.
  10. I say used also. By the time you have the amount of money a new one cost you could have a lot of aftermarket goodies for the used one.
  11. There is nothing funnier to ride than a banshee... well, I guess I can think of a couple
  12. Any of you guys going riding Sat. One of you guys were telling me about a place in Ohio. I have a friend and I that want to ride.
  13. I bought my plug at an autoparts store for $2.25.

  16. I'd do a leak down and compression test. Are you sure you just don't need rings or something. If you don't have an air leak maybe you'd benefit from a shorter or skinner needle.
  17. I do have to say.... sending packages through the post office sucks ass. I bought some shocks one time and they sent them usps. It took 2.5 months. I didn't believe they sent them. When I received them the date was back that far. That's "priority mail" for you.
  18. Just curious.... what kind of pipes are you using?
  19. Yeah, it does sound strange. Maybe you don't have enough air velocity going across that carb to pull the fuel in right. Hell, I don't know.
  20. mrmatt is running a 400 in stock carbs with an uported motor and it runs great. Every motor is different. If you don't find a leak.... . I wouldn't worry about it. You might have one of those freak motors.
  21. That's what we're all here for. If we all shared our experiences... we'd all be a lot smarter.
