  1. You shouldn't need to rejet if your jetting right on now. Reeds change the pwr. Thick reads help on top end because they resist fluttering. Dual stage reeds are a good all around reed. Pyramid makes a great all around reed cage. The v-force is a good set up too but use a pretty thick carbon reed. I use v-force as do many people. Reeds can change your power for sure and make it more fun to ride. Depending on your current mods though if it's worth the money or to put the money into something else. Welcome to bhq.
  2. Maybe your shifter needs adjuted inside the clutch cover. I've never heard grinding though.. ouch.
  3. Everyonce in a while I use to think about selling it. All I would have to do is ride it for 10min and that thought was gone.
  4. If you have the dual stage reeds they will form crack in the center bar of the petal. I know the stockers have a thickness tolerance. I don't know the number but the clymers manual states it. As far as thickness of the boyesen, contact them and they should have specs for you. If visual is fine and the thickness if fine ... keep running them.
  5. You need to play with the needle position. YOu may find one clip position to be much more responsive than on someone elses. They are not all the same. Most people try to stay stock but a lot of people find there is still a lot of tuning that can be done.
  6. Good point about the bulbs !!!! If they are fine the lighting coil side of the stator is gone.... as long as there is no loose wire. The stator has two sets of coils. One for lighting and one for ignition. Here's a pic. Standard stator from www.rickystator.com High output (Being for lighting)
  7. Before you get to far into that jetting, have you opened the airbox up yet. If you don't have a pro-flo plate you can silicone and bolt the stock plastic flange to the airbox. This will allow you to get rid of the airbox nozzle and lid. You can gain a lot more air flow and pwr. If so, I'd do the same.. 280 is a good starting point. If not, wait on the jetting until you open the box... If you choose to open the box that is.
  8. Okay, if you're going to start biggest bang for the buck as far as cylinders go it seems the cubs are on their way. Porting route Piston kit $160 Crank $500 Porting up to $500 Head or head mod $85 to $215 Then you'll end up wanting bigger carbs, reeds, filters, ... all the extra's cub route Cylinders with porting about $1000 Crank $500 Head mod (you can use a stock head with these cylinders though) Piston kit $160 Bore and hone $55 But you can sell your cylinders you have now, break pretty close to even with the port route and have good pwr with stock components. It's a toss up. I haven't seen any (no engine builders) posting dynos for the cubs yet. They are still in development. Also, everyone will expect your bike to fly because of aftermarket cylinders.
  9. If there's nothing wrong with the brake fluid shouldn't come out anyway. You can just use an rtv or yamabond like bkabina said just to keep junk out. And yes, the cereal box thing is for real. My dad use to make thermostat gaskets that way... lmao.
  10. I believe Jenson racing ... spelling is messed up I'm sure.... can ream them for you also.
  11. As far as your 125 goes you can tune it up and it won't foul plugs. Make sure you are using a quality 2 stroke oil too. Now, you mentioned running out of gas. Well, the banshee would be the funnest on open roads but a 4 stroke does great on fuel. At glamis, the banshee guys just put a 6pack rack on the shee and carried fuel. Now keep in mind almost all of us run modified motors too and they use more fuel. But, if you are looking for a reliable, inexpensive quad that will run and run the 400ex can be had pretty cheap. If you are looking for something that is just damn fun, get a banshee.
  12. Intresting... Here's a link to the 490 stock clutch http://216.37.204.202/Yamaha_OEM/YamahaDB....ype=13&A=6&B=12
  13. Once again I'm going past a quote for www.ericgorr.com because he knows his shizit Kehin has several different models. The most popular ones are the PJ, PWK, and PWM. The PJ is used on Honda CR125, 250, and 500 models from 1985-1997 The slide is oval shaped and there are no additional pumps, its just a simple carb. In fact it's so simple that the choke and idle screw share the same jet. The PWK was the next step up from the PJ. The PWK has a crescent shaped slide and a separate idle circuit from the choke. The PWK is used on Kawasaki KX125, 250, and 500 models from 1990-97. The latest version of the PWK features a pump to supply extra fuel in the mid-range. The PWM is similar to the older PWK (no pump) and the overall length is shorter. Hope this helps
  14. Maybe on one aspect but he somehow decodes what you send out so normal people can't tell where it's coming from... but the other end knows how to send the info to the correct place. It's crazy.
  15. Sounds rich all the way around to me. If you are running nos in the sand maybe you should check your compression. May be time for a rebuild also. Nos can be mean on a motor.
  16. another biggy is weather and the brand and model of your carbs.
  17. You don't want the intake side polished. The rough walls help the fuel atomize. The exhaust usually gets polished to let all the exhaust escape and keep carbon from building up. Oh and welcome to banshee hq!!!
  18. Maybe just clean it up really good, rough the inside of the tube up with some sand paper and tighten the crap out of it.
  19. I haven't looked at lakes yet but it might help with fishing too!
  20. You can click on his name in any post and there will be a link to send him and email. I have a couple for him but I don't know which is recent.
  21. Here's the newer pwm series. I like it!!!! pilots and mains through the float bowl!! Hmmmm Anyone tried them??? edit Nevermind, they only come in 38mm
  22. Here's a good place too. pro-flo.. Here's a link http://www.pro-flo.com/proflo_keihin_flat_slide_carbs.htm#Keihin PJ Series That page has the pj's pwk's pwk air stryker on it.
  23. Click Here I think yahoo or someone use to do this also. It's pretty cool. Just type an address at the top and it takes you right to it. Click satellite and you can get a pick. They say the pics are 6months to a yr old though.
